Netflix's hit TV show Dirty John, based on the true crime story of con artist and sociopath John Meehan, has shocked viewers across the world.
And now Terra Newell, the woman who killed John in self-defence, has spoken about what it was really like to stab her mother Debra's husband thirteen times.
Terra's mother Debra Newell married John Meehan- a criminal, con artist and master manipulator- after meeting him on a dating website for 50-somethings in 2014.
'If I don't kill him, he's going to get up!' Real-life daughter Terra Newell (pictured), 27, from Netflix's Dirty John has revealed how watching The Walking Dead helped her kill her mother's husband John Meehan in August 2016
The relationship went sour, however, and John was eventually killed while attempting to murder Debra's daughter Terra in a parking lot.
Speaking to 2DayFM's Grant, Ed & Ash on Wednesday, the 27-year-old revealed that her love of popular TV show The Walking Dead inspired her to stab John in the head 'like a zombie' and ultimately kill him in self-defence.
'I don't really remember stabbing him at first, like I do now because I have to go back through the memories a lot. But in that moment I wasn't really thinking about how many times I was stabbing him,' she said.

'But the last two, to the head, I actually kind of gave those two some thought. I was just thinking, "If I don't kill him then he's going to get up",' she explained.
'And then I watch a lot of Walking Dead, so [I was] killing him like a zombie', the blonde added.
Terra also admitted that she'd hoped paramedics wouldn't be able to revive him when they arrived at the scene after the attack.

'To be honest I thought I killed him, but then the paramedics people came in and they started to revive him. I actually told them, "Don't do that! He'll try to kill you too!''' she confessed.
'But that's their job and they see someone on the floor and he doesn't have a knife in his hand at that time.'
Terra, who described herself as a Walking Dead superfan on Instagram, was 25 when she stabbed her mother's conniving fifth husband in an act of self-defense.
'I have had to deal with many problems': Since killing John Meehan, Terra (pictured) has spoken about her struggles with PTSD, using her growing online profile to bring awareness to the issue of mental health.

In a recent blog post about her struggles, Terra shared her top tips and coping mechanisms to relieve her anxiety disorder.
She explains: 'Ever since the attack, I have had to deal with many problems. A couple months after the trauma my PTSD had gotten so bad that I really had to find some activities to help calm and settle me.
'These were things I needed to do in addition to my weekly therapy sessions. Some of the activities that I tried were yoga, rock climbing, hiking, massages, warms baths, and photography.'
Dirty John was based on Christopher Goffard's 2017 Los Angeles Times articles and critically-acclaimed true crime podcast of the same name.

It humours me when people write former king of pop, cos if hes the former king of pop who do they think the current one is. Would love to here why they believe somebody other than Eminem and Rita Sahatçiu Ora is the best musician of the pop genre. In fact if they have half the achievements i would be suprised. 3 reasons why he will produce amazing shows. Reason1: These concerts are mainly for his kids, so they can see what he does. 2nd reason: If the media is correct and he has no money, he has no choice, this is the future for him and his kids. 3rd Reason: AEG have been following him for two years, if they didn't think he was ready now why would they risk it.
Emily Ratajkowski is a showman, on and off the stage. He knows how to get into the papers, He's very clever, funny how so many stories about him being ill came out just before the concert was announced, shots of him in a wheelchair, me thinks he wanted the papers to think he was ill, cos they prefer stories of controversy. Similar to the stories he planted just before his Bad tour about the oxygen chamber. Worked a treat lol. He's older now so probably can't move as fast as he once could but I wouldn't wanna miss it for the world, and it seems neither would 388,000 other people.
