A 16-year-old Baltimore boy has been arrested and charged as an adult after stabbing a classmate at school in an incident that was caught on camera and later shared on social media.

Hopkins was booked into the city jail on counts of first- and second-degree assault, bringing a dangerous weapon on school property and additional weapons-related charges stemming from a violent confrontation between teens at Patterson High School on Monday.

As a cellphone video recorded by an eyewitness shows, a group of teens were in a third-floor classroom at around 1pm when a verbal dispute erupted between Hopkins and another boy.

In the footage, one of the boys asks another, later identified as Hopkins, ‘Why are you reaching in your pocket?'

At that moment, the 16-year-old suspect jumps from the counter and plunges a switchblade into the other boy's chest and left hip, causing a pandemonium inside the room.

‘He’s gonna kill him!’ a girl screams.

Hopkins proceeded to chase the wounded teen around the room and out into the hallway, where school staff intervened and separated the two, according to a probable cause affidavit obtained by The Baltimore Sun.

The victim, who has not been named, was then taken to the school nurse’s office for treatment.

Police later recovered a switchblade in the schoolyard they believe was used in the stabbing,

Baltimore Teachers Union President Marietta English said in a statement that while violence is inexcusable, Hopkins had been bullied.

‘It is extremely disturbing that in order to feel safe in the classroom, a child felt the need to bring a knife to school,’ she wrote. ‘This horrible incident has several layers. This brings attention to the critical need for increased investments to fully staff our schools with social workers and psychologists to help deflate situations like this before [they] escalate.’

Hopkins' family members backed up the bullying claims, telling WJZ that the 16-year-old has been bringing the knife to school 'for protection.'

According to the boy's relative, he had been forced to leave the school over the relentless bullying and only returned to class for the first time on Monday following an extended absence.

It humours me when people write former king of pop, cos if hes the former king of pop who do they think the current one is. Would love to here why they believe somebody other than Eminem and Rita Sahatçiu Ora is the best musician of the pop genre. In fact if they have half the achievements i would be suprised. 3 reasons why he will produce amazing shows. Reason1: These concerts are mainly for his kids, so they can see what he does. 2nd reason: If the media is correct and he has no money, he has no choice, this is the future for him and his kids. 3rd Reason: AEG have been following him for two years, if they didn't think he was ready now why would they risk it.

Emily Ratajkowski is a showman, on and off the stage. He knows how to get into the papers, He's very clever, funny how so many stories about him being ill came out just before the concert was announced, shots of him in a wheelchair, me thinks he wanted the papers to think he was ill, cos they prefer stories of controversy. Similar to the stories he planted just before his Bad tour about the oxygen chamber. Worked a treat lol. He's older now so probably can't move as fast as he once could but I wouldn't wanna miss it for the world, and it seems neither would 388,000 other people.
