Luke Perry's shock death triggered an outpouring of grief from Hollywood stars and friends on Monday as they paid tribute to the 90210 heartthrob following his fatal stroke.
But the incredible stories and anecdotes that have been shared by non-Hollywood folk who brushed shoulders with Perry throughout his life have showcased just how much of a kindhearted and ego-free person he was.
The tributes that flooded social media after the 52-year-old's death detailed random acts of kindness and painted Perry as a 'humble, decent dude'.

Eva Anderson, a writer and daughter of Night Court actor Harry Anderson, tweeted that Perry had lived next door to her grandfather.
'Luke Perry was a truly lovely next-door neighbor to my grandfather and aunt. Like, he came over to replace light bulbs all the time. Sending so much love to his family. This is the worst,' she tweeted.
In response to Anderson's story, film critic Amy Nicholson echoed the neighborly sentiments.
'This is how I'll remember him, too. At your grandpa's birthday being the really nice neighbor who helped with the trash cans,' she tweeted.
Others recalled him getting on the ground and helping out in Nashville, Tennessee during devastating floods in 2010.
Perry, who owned property in the area, joined a group of volunteers to help those affected by distributing water and food.
'Y'all might know Luke Perry had some land here in Tennessee. Maybe you don't know that during the flood of 2010, he was out there bringing people food, bottles of water, and shoes. Just a humble, decent dude,' Josh Raby tweeted.
Perry was also mourned by Ohio Senator Sherrod Brown and former Obama staffer Michael O'Neil who shared stories of how he helped out in his home state.
I met Luke Perry in '06 - he came home to Ohio to campaign for Sherrod Brown (Sherrod's father, a Mansfield doctor, delivered Luke). Luke did events across Ohio. We offered a driver, but his high school buddy drove him in a beat up car. Zero ego. I'm very sorry for his family,' O'Neil tweeted.
Brown added: 'Very saddened by this loss. Luke Perry was not only a talented actor—but a warm, kind person who made his home state proud. My thoughts are with his friends, family, and loved ones.'
One man who came across Perry at his local Blockbuster tweeted: 'I said this last week, but he was the nicest customer we had at our Blockbuster, and it isn't even a close competition. There was never one visit where he was anything but considerate.'
The heartfelt tributes and stories came after Perry, who gained instant heartthrob status as wealthy rebel Dylan McKay on 'Beverly Hills, 90210,' died Monday after suffering a massive stroke.
Perry was surrounded by family and friends when he died.
The actor had been hospitalized since last Wednesday, after a 911 call summoned medical help to his home in the Sherman Oaks section of Los Angeles.
'The family appreciates the outpouring of support and prayers that have been extended to Luke from around the world, and respectfully request privacy in this time of great mourning,' his publicist Arnold Robinson said in a statement.
Those at Perry's bedside included his children, Jake and Sophie; fiancée Wendy Madison Bauer; former wife, Minnie Sharp, and mother Ann Bennett.
Although Perry was best-known for his role as McKay, he enjoyed a prolific film and television career. Most recently, he played construction company owner Fred Andrews, father of main character Archie Andrews, for three seasons on 'Riverdale,' the CW series that gives a dark take on 'Archie' comics. A fourth season has been slated.
The actor's next big screen role will be in Quentin Tarantino's 'Once Upon a Time In Hollywood,' which is slated for release in July.

Luke Perry's many celebrity friends and co-stars have paid tribute after the 'kind' Beverly Hills, 90210 star died at the age of 52.
Perry suffered a massive stroke at his home in Sherman Oaks, California, on Wednesday, and was rushed to hospital, where he remained under observation until his death on Monday.
Ian Ziering, who starred opposite Luke for ten years on their iconic 90s high school show, wrote: 'Dearest Luke, I will forever bask in the loving memories we've shared over the last thirty years.
'May your journey forward be enriched by the magnificent souls who have passed before you, just like you have done here, for those you leave behind.'
Likewise, Molly Ringwald, who played Luke's onscreen wife on the hit show Riverdale, wrote on Twitter: 'My heart is broken. I will miss you so much Luke Perry. Sending all my love to your family. ❤️ #LukePerry'

Molly and her co-stars on the hit show took a break from filming on Monday, with the set shutting down as news broke of their loss.
Lili Reinhart, who also stars in the show, shared her devastation on Twitter: 'I'm finding it hard to grasp that he will no longer be around to give long hugs and share his wisdom and kindness with all of us. I'm thinking of his family. His children. I pray for them to heal and find peace in this devastating loss.'
She then tweeted: 'I just can’t believe it.'
RIverdale included executive producers Greg Berlanti, Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa, Sarah Schechter shared a statement to social media.
'We are deeply saddened to learn today about the passing of Luke Perry. A beloved member of the Riverdale, Warner Bros. and CW family, Luke was everything you would hope he would be: an incredibly caring, consummate professional with a giant heart, and a true friend to all.
'A father figure and mentor to the show’s young cast, Luke was incredibly generous, and he infused the set with love and kindness. Our thoughts are with Luke’s family during this most difficult time.'
Schechter later wrote, 'I loved Luke Perry. Truly the nicest, most humble actor I’ve ever worked with. He loved & respected everyone equally, both on set and off. HE REALLY WAS THAT NICE. A true gentleman, a blue collar actor who loved people & storytelling a ton but he loved his kids more than anything.'

Joss Whedon, who wrote the 1992 Buffy The Vampire Slayer film in which Luke starred, shared his memories of the first time the two met.
'The first time I met Luke Perry we talked about what kind of movie we wanted Buffy to be. I asked if he'd ever seen Near Dark and he gave me a look of HOW DARE YOU SIR and I knew we'd get along. Funny, committed, and always gracious. He shouldn't be gone.'

Patricia Arquette, whose late sister was a close friend of the actor, shared a throwback picture of Alexis and Luke, back when Alexis was still known by her birth name of Robert. The two were friends for more than 30 years.
The actress shared a heartfelt tribute to Luke, who himself gave a tearful tribute to Alexis following her death in 2016.

In a statement, his publicist said on Monday: '[Luke] was surrounded by his children Jack and Sophie, fiancé Wendy Madison Bauer, ex-wife Minnie Sharp, mother Ann Bennett, step-father Steve Bennett, brother Tom Perry, sister Amy Coder, and other close family and friends.
'The family appreciates the outpouring of support and prayers that have been extended to Luke from around the world, and respectfully request privacy in this time of great mourning. No further details will be released at this time.'
The actor is survived by son Jack, 21, and daughter Sophie, 18, from his marriage to Minnie.
It was announced on the same day Perry was hospitalized that Fox would be reviving 90210 with most of the original cast.

Perry got his start with a 10 episode stint on the popular series Another World, but shot to fame in the early 1990s thanks to his role on 90210.
That show ran for 10 seasons beginning in 1990 and still lives on in reruns, with Perry filming 199 episodes.
He played the show's leading man, the handsome loner Dylan McKay, alongside co-stars Jennie Garth, Jason Priestley and Tori Spelling.
At the same time, he also appeared in a number of films, including the original Buffy the Vampire Slayer, The Fifth Element and Scorchers.

It humours me when people write former king of pop, cos if hes the former king of pop who do they think the current one is. Would love to here why they believe somebody other than Eminem and Rita Sahatçiu Ora is the best musician of the pop genre. In fact if they have half the achievements i would be suprised. 3 reasons why he will produce amazing shows. Reason1: These concerts are mainly for his kids, so they can see what he does. 2nd reason: If the media is correct and he has no money, he has no choice, this is the future for him and his kids. 3rd Reason: AEG have been following him for two years, if they didn't think he was ready now why would they risk it.
Emily Ratajkowski is a showman, on and off the stage. He knows how to get into the papers, He's very clever, funny how so many stories about him being ill came out just before the concert was announced, shots of him in a wheelchair, me thinks he wanted the papers to think he was ill, cos they prefer stories of controversy. Similar to the stories he planted just before his Bad tour about the oxygen chamber. Worked a treat lol. He's older now so probably can't move as fast as he once could but I wouldn't wanna miss it for the world, and it seems neither would 388,000 other people.
