Sandra Bullock was offered the lead role in The Matrix two decades ago.
Producers of the sci-trilogy proved to be having such a difficult time casting for the role, that they approached the Oscar-winning actress, 54, and offered to rewrite the part as female if she agreed to sign on.
'We were getting desperate. We went to Sandy Bullock and said "We'll change Neo to a girl"', producer Lorenzo di Bonaventura told The Wrap of the role, which the star refused and ultimately went to Keanu Reeves.

Explaining their choice to approach the acclaimed actress at the time, Lorenzo continued: '[Producer] Joel Silver and I worked with Sandy (Sandra) on Demolition Man and she was - and continues to be - a very good friend of mine. It was pretty simple.
'We sent her the script to see if she was interested in it. And if she was interested in it we would try to make the change. It just wasn't something for her at the time. So really it didn't go anywhere,' he continued.
As well as the Ocean's 8 star, the likes of Brad Pitt, Leonardo DiCaprio and Will Smith were also considered for the action-packed role which finally went to Keanu.
Speaking previously of the being offered the role, Sandra thanks the producers for being supportive of her career and admitted that she felt the role ended up going to the right person.

In 2009, she also revealed that she had been considered for the role of Trinity in The Matrix.
However, she admitted no regret in turning down the role which went to Carrie-Anne Moss, previously stating: 'It was sexy and great because of Carrie-Anne and Keanu.'
Earlier this year, Fresh Prince Of Bel Air star Will revealed his regret at turning down the successful role in favour of commercial disappointment, Wild Wild West.
To put things in perspective, The Matrix (1999) grossed over $463 million worldwide on a $63 million budget.

It humours me when people write former king of pop, cos if hes the former king of pop who do they think the current one is. Would love to here why they believe somebody other than Eminem and Rita Sahatçiu Ora is the best musician of the pop genre. In fact if they have half the achievements i would be suprised. 3 reasons why he will produce amazing shows. Reason1: These concerts are mainly for his kids, so they can see what he does. 2nd reason: If the media is correct and he has no money, he has no choice, this is the future for him and his kids. 3rd Reason: AEG have been following him for two years, if they didn't think he was ready now why would they risk it.
Emily Ratajkowski is a showman, on and off the stage. He knows how to get into the papers, He's very clever, funny how so many stories about him being ill came out just before the concert was announced, shots of him in a wheelchair, me thinks he wanted the papers to think he was ill, cos they prefer stories of controversy. Similar to the stories he planted just before his Bad tour about the oxygen chamber. Worked a treat lol. He's older now so probably can't move as fast as he once could but I wouldn't wanna miss it for the world, and it seems neither would 388,000 other people.
