«Breaking News» Jessica Mulroney explains why she won't talk about BFF Meghan Markle in Harper's Bazaar

Meghan Markle's best friend Jessica Mulroney has spoken out about the increasing scrutiny and celebrity that she has experienced since her appearance at the royal wedding in 2019 - while once again refusing to discuss her now-famous relationship with the Duchess of Sussex.

The 39-year-old mother-of-three, who has been close pals with Meghan for many years now, while also serving as her unofficial stylist, would not open up about Meghan, or confirm whether she helped the royal to plan her wedding to Prince Harry in May 2018.

'This is my first interview that I’ve done since the wedding or anything, she said, before adding: 'Listen, every person has to have a bit of privacy in their life. There are certain things I hold very dear and secret.

'There are things I'll never talk about for sure. My life is an open book, but there's always a few secret pages in the back that nobody will be able to read.'

Tight-lipped: Despite the piece being the 'first interview she's done since the wedding', the 39-year-old would not talk about her friendship with Meghan, or her involvement in the wedding

Meghan didn't have a maid of honor at her wedding, though Jessica did seem to fulfill some of that role in an unofficial capacity. And her kids, eight-year-old twins John and Brian and five-year-old Ivy, served as page boys and a bridesmaid.

The Harper's Bazaar writer also noted that there was a photo of Jessica holding her daughter's hand at Windsor Castle, framed and on display in the family living room.

While she remained tight-lipped about her involvement in the ceremony, the fashion lover did speak out about one association with the duchess.

Jessica, who helped to plan a lavish baby shower for Meghan in a $75,000-a-night New York penthouse last month - revealed how she worked with Meghan to help 'save' a struggling fashion brand by having the royal wear a piece from it for an official engagement at the Nelson Mandela Centenary Exhibition.

Harper's reported that Jessica revealed 'Meghan's July 2018 appearance in a trench dress from the Calgary-based brand [Nonie] saved the house from shutting down', however, a source at Nonie confirmed to DailyMail.com that this is 'not accurate' and that the brand 'was not about to shut down prior to the appearance'.

Nonie designer Nina Kharey did speak out about the incredible response she received after Meghan wore her design, telling Hello! last year, 'My dad was in tears... It’s just been crazy.'

'[Jessica has] been a client of a few of my pieces and she’s also a strong advocate for Canadian designers, so I’m sure she showed her my look book and then that’s how it started... I am relishing in this; I’m enjoying the moment!'

While she may not have actually saved a brand from closure as she suggested, Jessica says advocating for Canadian brands is one of her fiercest passions, telling Harper's that - while she is best known for being stylist and pal to Meghan - styling is actually 'such a small part' of what she does.

'I have, like, 10 jobs,' she explained. 'People don't know that I work so much on the back end of things. They think I'm just dressing people. My business is with brands.'

In addition to dressing Meghan - who is perhaps her best known client - Jessica, who is married to Ben Mulroney, the son of former Canadian Prime Minister, has also worked with the likes of Canada's first lady Sophie Gregoire Trudeau, and Shania Twain.

As well as putting clothes on prominent clients like Meghan and Shania, Jessica also uses her own growing public profile to 'throw [brands] she likes a bone' by posting about their designs on her 'significant Instagram account'.

'Sometimes all you need is that onetime break and it'll change your life,' she said of many Canadian brands' struggle to get noticed in the industry. 'If you get your item on a celebrity, that's almost like the top of the top—a new way of creating business.

'I have a lot of friends in the entertainment business and I myself have a significant Instagram account, so I can throw them a bone and wear the earrings if I like them.

'Or if I know somebody's doing a red carpet, I'll be like, "Hey, you should try these." It's kind of organic, but if I can do it, it usually does help.'

In addition to working with brands, another of her '10 jobs' is working as a fashion contributor for Good Morning America, on which she makes appearances a few times a month in order to share style tips and advice.

Once thing she won't share, however, is anything to do with her friendship with Meghan - a topic which has caused some aggravation among executives at ABC.

Last month, DailyMail.com exclusively revealed that GMA had brought Jessica on in the hope that she would help ABC gain access to Meghan, and when she turned up at the royal's baby shower without saying a word about it to producers, it left some clamoring for her to be fired.

An executive with ABC News told DailyMail.com that 'when she made her agreement to appear on ABC it was on the condition that we couldn't ask her anything about Meghan Markle. Even when she is on set we can't even link her with Meghan.

'Many of us knew this would get us in trouble one day and this week it proved true,' the executive went on.

'We had no idea Meghan was in town, but our so called team member knew and didn't help us at all.

To make matters worse, baby shower guest Gayle King openly talked about the event on her show CBS This Morning, revealing that guests were taught how to arrange flowers at the party, and that Markle then donated those arrangements to various charities.

Gayle also said she could not reveal the gift that she purchased for Markle because she was choosing to open the presents back in London with Prince Harry.

DailyMail.com's source explained: 'What made things worse was when Gayle King showed up at Meghan's baby shower on Wednesday and then discussed it the following day on CBS This Morning, our competitor. Yet we can't book Jessica to talk about it.

'We get absolutely nothing from Jessica, so we should give her nothing in return.'

A source at ABC denied that Jessica won't talk about Meghan on air, saying: 'Jessica hasn't refused to talk about Meghan because she hasn't been asked about Meghan.'

They also denied that Jessica had anything in her contract that stated she couldn't be asked about the royal.

A GMA executive told Harper's that the network 'loves working with Jessica' and during her interview, Jessica herself defended her position at GMA, insisting there was 'no truth' to any suggestion that her position was 'in jeopardy'.

She also admitted that increased public interest in her life has 'come with the territory' - presumably referring to the fact that as her star has risen, at least in part because of her friendship with Meghan, so has the amount of speculation surrounding their relationship and how it has impacted Jessica's life.

'There are so many benefits to certain things, but then also a lot of negativity that you have to deal with at the same time. You have to stay positive,' she said.

Although she is based in Canada, Jessica spends a fair amount of time in New York for work, whether it's to make an appearance on GMA or to organize a baby shower for Meghan, and she has been pictured on multiple occasions strolling around the Big Apple.

Indeed, it seems the appearances on GMA, which she makes a few times a month, combined with her other fashion-focused jobs at home in Canada take their toll, with Jessica revealing that her life is based entirely around 'work and family'.

Her work does take her away from family on occasion however; on Valentine's Day, shortly before Meghan's baby shower was thrown, Jessica revealed that she and her husband Ben would be spending the romantic day apart, with her in the Big Apple filming GMA and attending the shower, while he was in Canada with their children.

With so much going on in their lives, Jessica says the couple ensures when they are together, they are focused entirely on the family.

'When we're together, we wanna be super present with the kids and each other and spend all the time that we can together,' she explained, adding: 'My social life has really taken a little beating, but my girlfriends all understand. I'm just too tired. I just wanna be home with the kids.'

The baby shower celebrations in New York last month must have served as a rare treat for Jessica, who was pictured enjoying a glittering night out on the town at Ralph Lauren's eatery The Polo Bar alongside Meghan and Serena Williams, before attending the star-studded shower that she helped to organize alongside tennis pro Williams.

But these kinds of outings are key, she says, to being a good mother, explaining: 'To be a good mom you have to step away from it for a minute.

'Whether that's getting out of the mom outfit or hanging out with your girlfriends - and not just your mom group friends - hanging out with other women.'

But while Jessica enjoys dressing up in fashion finery - and showcased an endless array of high-priced designer pieces in her shoot for Harper's, from Chanel handbags to Christian Louboutin shoes - she insists that she does not want to be recognized for her 'shiny object and outfits' or the 'company she keeps'.

'There’s a lot of misconceptions about what I do, and it’s nice to be able to tell people that,' she explained, adding: 'I never think I'm the smartest person in the room. I didn't invent something; I just chose to find my strengths and do things that make me happy and work with businesses I'm proud of and create strategies that I think work.

'And so far, so good, but I'm not changing the world.'

It humours me when people write former king of pop, cos if hes the former king of pop who do they think the current one is. Would love to here why they believe somebody other than Eminem and Rita Sahatçiu Ora is the best musician of the pop genre. In fact if they have half the achievements i would be suprised. 3 reasons why he will produce amazing shows. Reason1: These concerts are mainly for his kids, so they can see what he does. 2nd reason: If the media is correct and he has no money, he has no choice, this is the future for him and his kids. 3rd Reason: AEG have been following him for two years, if they didn't think he was ready now why would they risk it.

Emily Ratajkowski is a showman, on and off the stage. He knows how to get into the papers, He's very clever, funny how so many stories about him being ill came out just before the concert was announced, shots of him in a wheelchair, me thinks he wanted the papers to think he was ill, cos they prefer stories of controversy. Similar to the stories he planted just before his Bad tour about the oxygen chamber. Worked a treat lol. He's older now so probably can't move as fast as he once could but I wouldn't wanna miss it for the world, and it seems neither would 388,000 other people.
