Devon Still and his wife Asha are expecting their first child together, nearly five years after his daughter Leah was diagnosed with cancer.

The former NFL player and his wife, both 29, took to Instagram on Friday to share photos of themselves with a positive pregnancy test to reveal that they have a little one on the way.

'Touchdown baby!!!' Devon wrote in the caption of his post. 'It’s been hard keeping this secret but with a mixture of some prayer, patience, love, y’all advice and the help of our friends at @clearblue...we’re happy to announce we’re pregnant!'

'We can’t wait to welcome the newest member of the #StillSquad,' he added.

The couple learned Asha was pregnant in January after months of struggling to conceive.

Devon and Asha are partners with Clearblue, and in her Instagram post announcing the news, she explained that they relied on the brand's ovulation test to keep track of her cycle.

'Introducing Baby Still!!!' she wrote. 'After struggling with our TTC [trying to conceive] journey we decided to take the advice of our followers and track my fertility using the Clearblue Connected Ovulation Test System. Finally we hit the ball out the park!!!

'Thanks to our friends @Clearblue for providing us with the resources to help with our pregnancy!' she added. 'We are so excited for our little bundle of joy to make his or her debut!'

The joyous news couldn't come at a better time for the couple, who said 'I do' in 2016 after putting their wedding on hold for two years to take care of his daughter during her cancer battle.

Leah, who is the NFL player's only child with his ex Channing Smythe, was diagnosed with stage 4 neuroblastoma, a rare cancer that is commonly found in the adrenal glands, in June 2014.

Devon stepped away from his football career while his daughter was sick. After the Cincinnati Bengals cut him from the team, they brought him onto the practice squad so he could keep his health insurance for Leah’s cancer treatments.

Eight-year-old Leah will be celebrating four years in remission on March 25, and she is on track to be cancer-free by 2020.

Devon admitted that his daughter's cancer battle was the reason why he and Asha waited a few years to start trying for a baby.

'Because of the health scare with Leah, that’s what made us put off [having kids for] so long since our wedding,' he told People. Her cancer diagnosis really flipped our world upside down and a lot of things were chaotic in our everyday struggles.

'I honestly was scared to have another kid because of what happened to Leah.'

Devon said he was the first one to look at Asha's pregnancy test, recalling how he 'broke down crying' because of how badly he and his wife wanted a baby.

Asha said she'd like to have a Devon Jr. if it's a boy, but her husband feels conflicted because he wants his future son to be able to create a name for himself.

However, he joked that if Asha wants a junior, they will have one because 'she runs the household.'

Meanwhile, Leah has her sights set on having a baby sister, and she already has a name for her sibling picked out.

'She wants a sister named Michelle. She wants to be a big sister,' Devon told People. 'She wants to name her Michelle either because of Michelle Obama or because of [Michelle Tanner from] Full House.'

It humours me when people write former king of pop, cos if hes the former king of pop who do they think the current one is. Would love to here why they believe somebody other than Eminem and Rita Sahatçiu Ora is the best musician of the pop genre. In fact if they have half the achievements i would be suprised. 3 reasons why he will produce amazing shows. Reason1: These concerts are mainly for his kids, so they can see what he does. 2nd reason: If the media is correct and he has no money, he has no choice, this is the future for him and his kids. 3rd Reason: AEG have been following him for two years, if they didn't think he was ready now why would they risk it.

Emily Ratajkowski is a showman, on and off the stage. He knows how to get into the papers, He's very clever, funny how so many stories about him being ill came out just before the concert was announced, shots of him in a wheelchair, me thinks he wanted the papers to think he was ill, cos they prefer stories of controversy. Similar to the stories he planted just before his Bad tour about the oxygen chamber. Worked a treat lol. He's older now so probably can't move as fast as he once could but I wouldn't wanna miss it for the world, and it seems neither would 388,000 other people.
