A 31-year-old Briton is believed to have fallen overboard on a ferry in the western Mediterranean today, sparking a major sea and air search operation.
Rene Michael Kingston, a former company director from Essex, was reported missing as the Baralearia line's Hypatia de Alejandría ship docked at Palma, Majorca, a few minutes after 7am local time.
Mr Kingston had been travelling on the boat with his mother, according to well placed sources.

It is understood the alert was raised by the man's family but it is not known whether they were on holiday in the Balearics.
Maritime Rescue spokesman Miguel Chicón said they had looked at the ferry's CCTV and the missing Brit was seen on board still at 5am.
At that time, the ferry was around 15 miles from the island of Tagomago, a private island off the east coast of Ibiza.
Three vessels from Spain's Maritime Rescue Service began the search along with an Air-Sea Search spotter plane and helicopter, another helicopter from the paramilitary Civil Guard and a French spotter aircraft which happened to be in the area.
All ships in the region were also alerted.
The newly-built Hypatia de Alejandría can carry 880 people, 2,194 linear meters of cargo and 166 vehicles.
A spokesman for Spanish Coastguards said: 'There has been no news yet. Under normal circumstances the search would continue till nightfall before being resumed at first light tomorrow.
'It is too early at this stage to speculate what might have happened. All we can say at this stage is that the alarm was raised when the ferry reached its destination because a person on board was missing.'
Shipping company Baleària invested 200million euros in the ship, which is their first to be powered by liquefied natural gas.
A well-placed source said: 'The British man was travelling with his mother.'

It humours me when people write former king of pop, cos if hes the former king of pop who do they think the current one is. Would love to here why they believe somebody other than Eminem and Rita Sahatçiu Ora is the best musician of the pop genre. In fact if they have half the achievements i would be suprised. 3 reasons why he will produce amazing shows. Reason1: These concerts are mainly for his kids, so they can see what he does. 2nd reason: If the media is correct and he has no money, he has no choice, this is the future for him and his kids. 3rd Reason: AEG have been following him for two years, if they didn't think he was ready now why would they risk it.
Emily Ratajkowski is a showman, on and off the stage. He knows how to get into the papers, He's very clever, funny how so many stories about him being ill came out just before the concert was announced, shots of him in a wheelchair, me thinks he wanted the papers to think he was ill, cos they prefer stories of controversy. Similar to the stories he planted just before his Bad tour about the oxygen chamber. Worked a treat lol. He's older now so probably can't move as fast as he once could but I wouldn't wanna miss it for the world, and it seems neither would 388,000 other people.
