A California school district has paid $375,000 to a teenage boy who developed developed post-traumatic stress disorder after having sex with his gym teacher.
The victim, who was 16 at the time, said he developed PTSD after the scandal emerged and his legal team successfully argued that Washington High School should have been proactive about not letting the crime happen in the summer of 2016.
In January 2018, married Corine Audiat, 32, pleaded no contest to charges of having unlawful sexual intercourse with a minor and oral copulation of a person under 18. Both charges are felonies.
However the felonies as well as four others - three counts of contacting a minor for sex and one count of sending harmful material to a minor with sexual intent - were dropped as part of a deal. Audiat's misdemeanor child molestation charge was also scrapped.
Audiat is not allowed to work with children again. She was ordered to do 150 hours of community service and was on house arrest for six months last year.
She paid the boy $4,000 in a settlement for her criminal case, was ordered to stay away from him for 10 years, and turned in her cell phone with evidence contained on it.

Then in March 2018 her name was removed from the civil case that this January, the school district agreed to payout for.
The separate 2017 lawsuit from the victim's family claimed the Fremont Unified School District neglected to prevent the child's emotional distress by ignoring red flags.
San Jose-based attorney B. Robert Allard, who represents the student, said the teen was ashamed that his first time having sex was with a teacher he trusted and that the memory of what happened would forever be etched in his mind.

He said the boy had trouble sleeping and focusing on studies after media came to his school in his senior year. The lawyer said they settled to avoid further emotional distress for him.
'We knew this settlement wasn't going to be confidential, and that it would send a message to other districts: You have to take proactive measures, or you're going to be held accountable,' East Bay Times reports Mark Boskovich said.
The district had to pay $25,000 in legal fees.
Audiat's involvement with the student took place May 2016 and police began investigating the former teacher in November 2016 'after receiving a report of an alleged sexual misconduct' involving her and a 'juvenile male'.
The civil suit accused Audiat, also known as Audiat-Gee, of 'grooming' her students and enticing them with flirtation, text messages and open displays of affection, such as hugs.
It stated that she texted the victim that she wanted to take him into the gym equipment room and kiss him. Then things became sexual.
Audiat, who got married in October 2014, had been a teacher at Washington High School since 2012. She had worked in the Fremont Unified School District since 2008.
She was also employed as a swim coach at Mission San Jose High School in Fremont and a coach for an East Bay Swim League in Fremont called the Glenmoor Stingrays.
Following her arrest, Washington High School announced that she had been fired and was removed from the school's online directory.
She's now a registered sex offender and had to complete a year of sex offender counseling.

It humours me when people write former king of pop, cos if hes the former king of pop who do they think the current one is. Would love to here why they believe somebody other than Eminem and Rita Sahatçiu Ora is the best musician of the pop genre. In fact if they have half the achievements i would be suprised. 3 reasons why he will produce amazing shows. Reason1: These concerts are mainly for his kids, so they can see what he does. 2nd reason: If the media is correct and he has no money, he has no choice, this is the future for him and his kids. 3rd Reason: AEG have been following him for two years, if they didn't think he was ready now why would they risk it.
Emily Ratajkowski is a showman, on and off the stage. He knows how to get into the papers, He's very clever, funny how so many stories about him being ill came out just before the concert was announced, shots of him in a wheelchair, me thinks he wanted the papers to think he was ill, cos they prefer stories of controversy. Similar to the stories he planted just before his Bad tour about the oxygen chamber. Worked a treat lol. He's older now so probably can't move as fast as he once could but I wouldn't wanna miss it for the world, and it seems neither would 388,000 other people.
