«Breaking News» Facebook temporarily removes Sen. Elizabeth Warren's adverts calling for break up of company

Facebook performed a U-turn after removing Sen. Elizabeth Warren's adverts calling for the break up of the social media giant and Amazon and Google.

Warren, who is running a presidential campaign, claimed that the three tech companies had 'bulldozed the competition' and 'used private information for profit'.

Calling for signatures for a petition to destroy their monopoly on Friday, Warren wrote in the ad: 'We all use them.

'But in their rise to power, they've bulldozed the competition, used our private information for profit, and tilted the playing field in their favor.'

The Massachusetts Democrat announced her plans to take on the three companies last week.

Warren's statement on Friday had an immediate impact on the company stocks. Amazon shares fell 1.5 per cent and Facebook and Alphabet shares were down 0.6 percent in morning trade.

The consumer protection advocate is polling an average of 7 per cent support.

It is not known exactly when the adverts were taken down, but the removal was first noticed by Politico on Monday morning. They were restored later that evening.

A Facebook spokesperson told Politico that it had removed the adverts because they used its logo.

They said: 'We removed the ads because they violated our policies against use of our corporate logo. In the interest of allowing robust debate, we are restoring the ads.'

In response to the news, Warren took to Twitter to accuse the brand of 'shutting down debate', but thanked them for reversing the ban.

She said: 'Curious why I think FB has too much power? Let's start with their ability to shut down a debate over whether FB has too much power.

'Thanks for restoring my posts. But I want a social media marketplace that isn't dominated by a single censor. #BreakUpBigTech.'

Warren, who is seeking to stand out in the Democratic field of candidates, said the companies have been allowed to purchase potential competitors, like Facebook's acquisition of Instagram.

One of her competitors, Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders, has already gone after Amazon to try to get the shipping and Internet giant to boost wages.

Sanders introduced legislation, named after Amazon chief Jeff Bezos, that would seek to tax companies whose workers are forced to rely on government benefits for health care and living costs.

The acronym comes from its title: 'Stop Bad Employers by Zeroing Out Subsidies.'

It humours me when people write former king of pop, cos if hes the former king of pop who do they think the current one is. Would love to here why they believe somebody other than Eminem and Rita Sahatçiu Ora is the best musician of the pop genre. In fact if they have half the achievements i would be suprised. 3 reasons why he will produce amazing shows. Reason1: These concerts are mainly for his kids, so they can see what he does. 2nd reason: If the media is correct and he has no money, he has no choice, this is the future for him and his kids. 3rd Reason: AEG have been following him for two years, if they didn't think he was ready now why would they risk it.

Emily Ratajkowski is a showman, on and off the stage. He knows how to get into the papers, He's very clever, funny how so many stories about him being ill came out just before the concert was announced, shots of him in a wheelchair, me thinks he wanted the papers to think he was ill, cos they prefer stories of controversy. Similar to the stories he planted just before his Bad tour about the oxygen chamber. Worked a treat lol. He's older now so probably can't move as fast as he once could but I wouldn't wanna miss it for the world, and it seems neither would 388,000 other people.
