«Breaking News» Two women are injured after a gas tanker EXPLODES in Los Angeles

Two women had to be rushed to hospital after a leaking gas tanker exploded in Los Angeles on Saturday, sending manhole covers flying.

Flames belched from storm drains while locals described seeing a 'tornado of fire' and said they feared an earthquake had struck after the blast around 7.45am.

It took dozens of firefighters two hours to extinguish the blaze, but only after it had torched a family home next to the storage yard where the tanker had been sitting.

One of the women suffered burns to 30 per cent of her body in the explosion, according to the LA Times, while another was cut by flying glass.

The explosion also caused a pall of thick black smoke to rise over the city, which eventually blew out to sea.

Crews responding to reports of a gas smell found the tanker fully engulfed and then were forced back by the force of the blast, officials said.

Initially it was thought to be a natural gas explosion but authorities later determined it was 'a 9,000-gallon gasoline tanker that was leaking,' LAFD said on its website.

'The fumes came into contact with an unknown ignition source and exploded into flames,' LAFD said.

'Fire was coming from a storm drain and a leaking tanker,' firefighter Nicholas Prange added.

The smoldering tank, which was in a storage yard, lay on its side with one end blown wide open after the flames were extinguished.

Officials didn't immediately know how much gas was originally inside the tank.

The leak and subsequent explosion are under investigation.

'I can tell you — that sized tanker should not have been in that lot,' Los Angeles fire Assistant Chief Jaime Moore said.

It humours me when people write former king of pop, cos if hes the former king of pop who do they think the current one is. Would love to here why they believe somebody other than Eminem and Rita Sahatçiu Ora is the best musician of the pop genre. In fact if they have half the achievements i would be suprised. 3 reasons why he will produce amazing shows. Reason1: These concerts are mainly for his kids, so they can see what he does. 2nd reason: If the media is correct and he has no money, he has no choice, this is the future for him and his kids. 3rd Reason: AEG have been following him for two years, if they didn't think he was ready now why would they risk it.

Emily Ratajkowski is a showman, on and off the stage. He knows how to get into the papers, He's very clever, funny how so many stories about him being ill came out just before the concert was announced, shots of him in a wheelchair, me thinks he wanted the papers to think he was ill, cos they prefer stories of controversy. Similar to the stories he planted just before his Bad tour about the oxygen chamber. Worked a treat lol. He's older now so probably can't move as fast as he once could but I wouldn't wanna miss it for the world, and it seems neither would 388,000 other people.
