Senator Ted Cruz has shared his opposition to Chick-fil-A being banned from San Antonio International Airport, claiming that fast food fans are being punished because of the company's philanthropic efforts.
The Texas Republican on Friday afternoon responded to news the restaurant was blocked from opening at the airport in April 2020 due to its donations to organizations that have expressed anti-LGBTQ views.
'The citizens of beautiful San Antonio deserve more delicious sandwiches, and fewer rabid attacks against companies because of their charitable giving to the community. Come on,' Cruz posted on Twitter alongside an article revealing the City Council voted to pass a project as long as the chicken eatery wasn't a part of it.

As well as the post to 1.22 million on his government account, Cruz tweeted 'ridiculous' in response to the story on his personal Twitter page which has 3.3 million followers.
The move came after on Wednesday Think Progress shared tax documents from Chick-fil-A Inc. showing they donated $1.8million to discriminatory organizations.
It was despite a 2012 backlash against Chick-fil-A's CEO Dan Cathy who claimed America is 'inviting God's judgment on our nation when we shake our fist at him and say we know better than you as to what constitutes a marriage.'
The company later vowed in a Facebook statement to 'leave the policy debate over same-sex marriage to the government and political arena'.
International Economic Development Council president Jeff Finkle said after including Chick-fil-A in a conference on equality that he believed the company was reforming and that their tax returns would reflect that.
But tax returns show the Chick-fil-A Foundation gave $1,653,416 to the Fellowship of Christian Athletes, $6,000 to the Paul Anderson Youth Home, and $150,000 to the Salvation Army in 2017. It was even more than in 2016.

It was reported the Salvation Army had opposed legal protection for the LGBTQ community, the Fellowship of Christian Athletes had a policy that banned 'homosexual acts' and the Paul Anderson Youth Home taught troubled residents that homosexuality was wrong.
The chicken strip restaurant told Think Progress they stopped donating to the youth home after a 'blog post from 2010 surfaced that does not meet Chick-fil-A's commitment to creating a welcoming environment to all'.
But the damage was already done for the City of San Antonio, which on Thursday revealed District 1 City Councilman Roberto Treviño had made a motion to approve the Food, Beverage and Retail Prime Concession Agreement with Paradies Lagardère 'provided that it exclude the Chick-Fil-A concept'.
The amendment was approved by a vote of 6-4.
Treviño said in a statement: 'With this decision, the City Council reaffirmed the work our city has done to become a champion of equality and inclusion. San Antonio is a city full of compassion, and we do not have room in our public facilities for a business with a legacy of anti-LGBTQ behavior.
'Everyone has a place here, and everyone should feel welcome when they walk through our airport. I look forward to the announcement of a suitable replacement by Paradies.'

KTSA reported the original idea for Chick-fil-A as one of the concessions for the seven-year contract - with three opportunities for one-year extensions – came from City Council members.
Initially having Panda Express in mind, Treviño secured votes opposing the idea for the project expected to raise $2.1million in revenue for the city.
Elements of the new agreement include a coffee kiosk in the baggage claim area, food options before reaching the security line, fast pay areas and charging stations at restaurants.
Passengers will be able to enjoy the culinary creations of award-winning chef Andrew Weisman and other local iconic personalities, taste some local barbecue and purchase memorabilia or a T-shirt from the NBA's San Antonio Spurs.

'The more than 34 million tourists who visit San Antonio annually already know about San Antonio's unique ambiance, history and culture, Mayor Ron Nirenberg said Thursday. 'Giving them an opportunity to taste some of our city's finest local culinary delights at the airport will enhance the city's appeal encouraging further exploration and longer stays.'
But the Atlanta-founded Chick-fil-A will not be a part of that.

Check-fil-A told DailyMail.com in a statement: 'The press release issued by the councilmember was the first we heard of his motion and its approval by the San Antonio City Council. We wish we had the opportunity to clarify misperceptions about our company prior to the vote.
'We agree with the councilmember that everyone should feel welcome at Chick-fil-A. In fact, we have welcomed everyone in San Antonio into our 32 local stores for more than 40 years. Our local restaurants consistently give back to the San Antonio community, and have awarded more than $600,000 in scholarships to Chick-fil-A restaurant team members in San Antonio.'
Mentioning that they were named 'Best Franchise Brand' in 2018 by Airport Revenue News, Chick-fil-A said they have been 'transparent about our giving' via their website and are 'proud of the positive impact we are making in communities across America, and specifically in San Antonio'.
'We would welcome the opportunity to have a thoughtful dialogue with the city council and we invite all of them into our local stores to interact with the more than 2,000 team members who are serving the people of San Antonio, the statement continued. 'We hope they will experience for themselves that Chick-fil-A embraces all people, regardless of race, gender, ethnicity, sexual orientation or gender identity.'

It was after requesting the school apologize for disparaging language used about the corporate values of the restaurant, and the school failing to do so.

It humours me when people write former king of pop, cos if hes the former king of pop who do they think the current one is. Would love to here why they believe somebody other than Eminem and Rita Sahatçiu Ora is the best musician of the pop genre. In fact if they have half the achievements i would be suprised. 3 reasons why he will produce amazing shows. Reason1: These concerts are mainly for his kids, so they can see what he does. 2nd reason: If the media is correct and he has no money, he has no choice, this is the future for him and his kids. 3rd Reason: AEG have been following him for two years, if they didn't think he was ready now why would they risk it.
Emily Ratajkowski is a showman, on and off the stage. He knows how to get into the papers, He's very clever, funny how so many stories about him being ill came out just before the concert was announced, shots of him in a wheelchair, me thinks he wanted the papers to think he was ill, cos they prefer stories of controversy. Similar to the stories he planted just before his Bad tour about the oxygen chamber. Worked a treat lol. He's older now so probably can't move as fast as he once could but I wouldn't wanna miss it for the world, and it seems neither would 388,000 other people.
