«Breaking News» Romanian singer who fled homophobic abuse in home country was sexually abused and robbed in London

A Romanian singer who fled his home country to escape homophobic abuse has revealed how he was left feeling suicidal after being sexually abused and robbed while sleeping rough in London.

The singer, who performs under the name Constantin4U, came to England in 2010 with no money, but revealed that men in the UK then demanded sexual favours from him and threatened his life if he did not comply.

The 31-year-old, who lives in Lambeth, south London, and is speaking for the first time about the alleged abuse, said wealthy men who abused him 'physically and sexually' were the worst offenders.

He said that his abusers would threaten him with going to the police and getting him deported 'for being homeless' if he came forward.

'Very wealthy people would come to the parks late at night and abuse me physically and sexually,' he said.

'I remember them owning expensive watches and jewellery.

'The abusers were always men - I remember some of them wore wedding rings. Around 3am – 4am in the morning they would come, sometimes drunk, sometimes on drugs, but they knew what they were doing.

'They abused me and forced me into acts against my will.

'They would threaten me - if I didn't have sex with them, they would go to the police and deport me for being homeless.

I was a very easy target and felt like prey to them. 'I could hardly speak English and didn't have anyone to turn to - and of course was terrified of being deported.

'It was the worst part of my life and is very difficult for me to relive,' he added.

The Romanian said he contemplated suicide 'a couple of times' because of the abuse and in one incident he was forced to floor and then pushed into a freezing lake.

'I remember one time I decided to fight back against one of those men in St James Park, to try and escape, but this guy wrestled me to the floor and pushed me in the lake,' he said.

'It was the middle of the night and the water was freezing cold, I was terrified - I didn't even know how to swim.

'I felt very low, very miserable for a long time afterwards. I just felt empty and full of disgust about myself.

'It was really tough. To be honest, I contemplated suicide a couple of times.'

Constantin said he was also robbed while sleeping rough, leaving him with 'absolutely nothing'.

'I was very scared to sleep in the park at night. I remember how I felt when I woke up one morning and my rucksack with all my belongings was gone.

'It had all my documents, including my passport. I was terrified because I was left with absolutely nothing.'

He added that he was offered the opportunity by police to go back to Romania, but was not able to because of the alienation that his sexuality prompted.

Constantin was unable to go back to Romania and, with no money, was forced to steal sandwiches to eat. He spent his time looking for jobs in restaurants but struggled because he spoke little English. But he has used his bad experiences to drive his recent success, and his 2014 music video, One Boy From A Little Town, has had more than one million views on Youtube

Instead, he stayed in London and was forced to steal sandwiches because he had no money and was 'so hungry I was feeling sick'.

'I was outside a sandwich shop at Victoria Station but didn't have any money. I was so desperate, I grabbed a couple of sandwiches and left without paying,' he said.

'The staff saw me and watched me take them but didn't do anything. I think they sensed that I was in a lot of trouble. But I still feel ashamed of what happened.'

Constantin spent his time in the day looking for a job in restaurants but found it difficult because of his limited English.

'At many places, I saw people laughing behind my back. I was totally humiliated. And I was incredibly sad by how I was treated. But I refused to give up,' he said.

But he was then given food and clothes by a 'wonderful' man, Mahmood, and has used his bad experiences to drive his recent success.

His 2014 music video, One Boy From A Little Town, has had more than one million views on Youtube.

'My advice to anyone going through something similar would be to never, ever, play their games,' Constantin said.

'Go straight to the police, you don't have to take their abuse.

'Don't be quiet, don't be ashamed like I was. There are a lot of wonderful people who are on the streets, these are good people who don't deserve to be treated like this.'

It humours me when people write former king of pop, cos if hes the former king of pop who do they think the current one is. Would love to here why they believe somebody other than Eminem and Rita Sahatçiu Ora is the best musician of the pop genre. In fact if they have half the achievements i would be suprised. 3 reasons why he will produce amazing shows. Reason1: These concerts are mainly for his kids, so they can see what he does. 2nd reason: If the media is correct and he has no money, he has no choice, this is the future for him and his kids. 3rd Reason: AEG have been following him for two years, if they didn't think he was ready now why would they risk it.

Emily Ratajkowski is a showman, on and off the stage. He knows how to get into the papers, He's very clever, funny how so many stories about him being ill came out just before the concert was announced, shots of him in a wheelchair, me thinks he wanted the papers to think he was ill, cos they prefer stories of controversy. Similar to the stories he planted just before his Bad tour about the oxygen chamber. Worked a treat lol. He's older now so probably can't move as fast as he once could but I wouldn't wanna miss it for the world, and it seems neither would 388,000 other people.
