«Breaking News» Safari park ranger has to flee to safety when his car bursts into flames inside LION enclosure

A safari park ranger had to flee to safety this afternoon when his car burst into flames inside a lion enclosure.

The ranger, who had been driving through West Midlands Safari Park at midday, was trapped inside his burning vehicle as desperate colleagues raced to save him.

And in a dramatic rescue, leapt from his own vehicle to another ranger's while the lions were put away and the fire extinguished.

The vehicle was caught on camera ablaze at the Worcestershire park at around 12.20pm today near the lion habitat.

The footage, captured by Laura Martin, 24, from Kidderminster, shows a large cloud of smoke billowing into the sky.

Recalling the blaze, she told MailOnline: 'It was scary at first as we couldn’t see what was on fire.

'There was just a lot of black smoke. There was also several loud bangs, making it sounds as if the vehicle was exploding.

'We guessed it was in the lion enclosure and then thought, are people trapped? How have they got out in that enclosure?'

Describing the park's response to the incident, she said: 'They blocked off the entrance to stop vehicles going in. We saw four jeeps herding the rhinos and zebras away from the area quickly and the fire engine rush through the enclosures to get to the scene.

'We then heard reports that no one got hurt and it was a ranger car that had over heated and caught fire.'

A spokesman for the park confirmed all animals, guests and staff were unharmed and the blaze was extinguished an hour after it started by Herefordshire and Worcestershire Fire Service.

A spokeswoman for the safari park told MailOnline: 'The vehicle belonged to one of our ranger's and not a member of the public.

'Soon after the car caught fire, another of our ranger's drove to rescue the man inside the vehicle.

'The lions were then put away and the fire extinguished.'

Earlier today, a spokeswoman for the park confirmed a fire inside the lion enclosure stating that all of the animals, guests and staff were safe following the incident.

She said: 'The swift reaction from our staff meant that the vehicle was evacuated and lions were put away safely.

'The emergency services attended promptly, and we would like to thank them for their quick response.'

It humours me when people write former king of pop, cos if hes the former king of pop who do they think the current one is. Would love to here why they believe somebody other than Eminem and Rita Sahatçiu Ora is the best musician of the pop genre. In fact if they have half the achievements i would be suprised. 3 reasons why he will produce amazing shows. Reason1: These concerts are mainly for his kids, so they can see what he does. 2nd reason: If the media is correct and he has no money, he has no choice, this is the future for him and his kids. 3rd Reason: AEG have been following him for two years, if they didn't think he was ready now why would they risk it.

Emily Ratajkowski is a showman, on and off the stage. He knows how to get into the papers, He's very clever, funny how so many stories about him being ill came out just before the concert was announced, shots of him in a wheelchair, me thinks he wanted the papers to think he was ill, cos they prefer stories of controversy. Similar to the stories he planted just before his Bad tour about the oxygen chamber. Worked a treat lol. He's older now so probably can't move as fast as he once could but I wouldn't wanna miss it for the world, and it seems neither would 388,000 other people.
