«Breaking News» Richard E. Grant reveals Julianne Moore was fired from Can You Ever Forgive Me? because of fat suit

Julianne Moore previously said she was originally cast in Melissa's role as Lee Israel in Can You Ever Forgive Me? before director Nicole Holofcener fired her.

And Richard E. Grant revealed on Thursday that the actress, 58, was forced to leave the project as she wanted to wear a fat suit and a fake nose to embody the character.

Making an appearance during Advertising Week Europe at Picturehouse Central, in London, the actor, 61, was speaking with Empire's Editor-In-Chief Terri White when he made the candid confession.

Richard also revealed that Helena Bonham Carter and Sam Rockwell were also set to be part of the film before he was cast.

Earlier this month, Julianne made the sensational revelation on Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen that she was dropped from the project.

Clearly still feeling a tinge of embarrassment from the turn of events in 2015, the actress also admitted that she had yet to see the movie as 'it's still kind of painful'.

Julianne was in high spirits on the popular show, however, when a viewer called in to ask her why she left the film her demeanour immediately changed.

'I didn’t leave that movie, I was fired,' she shockingly confessed and admitted it was the flick's first director, Nicole, who was the one who gave her the boot.

Giving further context to the situation, the Still Alice star detailed: 'I think she didn’t like what I was doing.

'We just been rehearsing and doing pre-production and stuff and her idea of where the character was was different than where my idea of where the character was, so she fired me,' Julianne confessed.

To add insult to injury, the redhead noted: 'The only other time I was fired was when I was working at a yogurt stand when I was 15, so it felt bad.'

Nicole ended up cutting ties with the movie herself, and the biographical comedy went on to be helmed by Marielle Heller, with a starring cast of Melissa and Richard.

Julianne also proved further embarrassed when she was asked if she had seen the critically acclaimed movie, to which she admitted she hadn't.

Giving her reason for her choice, Julianne admitted it was because it was 'still painful for her.'

However, she was quick to state there was no hard feelings with the leading lady, who was nominated in the Best Actress category for every major award ceremony this year.

'I love Melissa McCarthy. I worship her. I think she’s fantastic, so I’m sure she’s great,' she expressed.

Can You Ever Forgive Me? follows best-selling biographer Lee Israel, played by McCarthy, as she becomes irrelevant in the publishing world.

To make rent, Israel starts selling forged letters she claims were written by literary geniuses like Louise Brooks, Dorothy Parker, and Ernest Hemingway.

'Lee was a fascinating woman—so smart, so funny, so challenging. I don't think we see enough women characters that are wonderfully flawed portrayed,' she previously told THR.

'She's so unlikable, I love her. You've got to watch someone fall down and roll in the mud to root for them to get back up. I think you need to see the bumps and bruises.'

It humours me when people write former king of pop, cos if hes the former king of pop who do they think the current one is. Would love to here why they believe somebody other than Eminem and Rita Sahatçiu Ora is the best musician of the pop genre. In fact if they have half the achievements i would be suprised. 3 reasons why he will produce amazing shows. Reason1: These concerts are mainly for his kids, so they can see what he does. 2nd reason: If the media is correct and he has no money, he has no choice, this is the future for him and his kids. 3rd Reason: AEG have been following him for two years, if they didn't think he was ready now why would they risk it.

Emily Ratajkowski is a showman, on and off the stage. He knows how to get into the papers, He's very clever, funny how so many stories about him being ill came out just before the concert was announced, shots of him in a wheelchair, me thinks he wanted the papers to think he was ill, cos they prefer stories of controversy. Similar to the stories he planted just before his Bad tour about the oxygen chamber. Worked a treat lol. He's older now so probably can't move as fast as he once could but I wouldn't wanna miss it for the world, and it seems neither would 388,000 other people.
