«Breaking News» Northwestern pre-med student charged with sexual assaulting an 18-year-old on campus

A 20-year-old Northwestern student has been charged with sexually assaulting an 18-year-old woman on campus. 

Scott Thomas, a freshman pre-med student, was arrested on Tuesday and has since been expelled from the university. He is also no longer allowed on campus.  

Students were leaving the Northwestern University library shortly after 2am on March 16 when they saw Thomas and the girl, who told police she had met him at a soccer party earlier that night. 

The students told investigators they saw Thomas holding the woman against a glass door and sexually assaulting her.

One witness heard the woman begging Thomas to stop, according to the Chicago Tribune. The students said it was clear she was not a willing participant. 

They said the woman 'appeared lifeless' and that Thomas was holding her up during the assault 'because she could not stand on her own'.  

One of the students who witnessed the assault told police they called out and approached Thomas, who immediately pulled up his pants and tucked in his shirt.

The woman's eyes were closed and she had almost incoherent speech, according to prosecutors.   

Surveillance video captured the woman and Thomas while they were walking on campus. Prosecutors said the footage shows her removing Thomas' hand from her body multiple times. 

Video also captured Thomas pushing the woman against the glass door and holding her up.  

The witnesses found a Northwestern University police officer and the woman was taken to a hospital by ambulance. She had suffered bruising, redness, and scratches on her arms, wrist, and upper lip. 

The woman told investigators she had met Thomas at a party that night and did not know him well. She did not remember the alleged assault. 

A criminal sexual assault examination was administered at the hospital. 

Thomas, who is from Bernardsville, New Jersey, was released on Wednesday after posting the $5,000 cash portion of his $50,000 bond. A jail booking photo was not taken because he immediately posted bond, according to the Tribune. 

Thomas' attorney claims the alleged assault was 'drunken sex' and asked that the 20-year-old be allowed to return to New Jersey to live with his parents, who were in court.

'This is an unfortunate situation,' said Jeff Urdangen, who is also a professor at the Northwestern University Center for Criminal Defense. 'Things will get sorted out as they go along.'  

Cook County Circuit Court Judge Anjana Hansen denied the request and said Thomas could not leave the jurisdiction. 

Hansen also ordered that he have no contact with his alleged victim. Thomas is next due to appear in court on April 3.

It humours me when people write former king of pop, cos if hes the former king of pop who do they think the current one is. Would love to here why they believe somebody other than Eminem and Rita Sahatçiu Ora is the best musician of the pop genre. In fact if they have half the achievements i would be suprised. 3 reasons why he will produce amazing shows. Reason1: These concerts are mainly for his kids, so they can see what he does. 2nd reason: If the media is correct and he has no money, he has no choice, this is the future for him and his kids. 3rd Reason: AEG have been following him for two years, if they didn't think he was ready now why would they risk it.

Emily Ratajkowski is a showman, on and off the stage. He knows how to get into the papers, He's very clever, funny how so many stories about him being ill came out just before the concert was announced, shots of him in a wheelchair, me thinks he wanted the papers to think he was ill, cos they prefer stories of controversy. Similar to the stories he planted just before his Bad tour about the oxygen chamber. Worked a treat lol. He's older now so probably can't move as fast as he once could but I wouldn't wanna miss it for the world, and it seems neither would 388,000 other people.
