An Indiana mother appeared to be intoxicated and was lying across the center console of her car with a bottle of rum when her baby was found dead, police said.
Rachel McAfee, 36, was arrested and charged with neglect of a dependent causing death after officers found her inside her SUV in Indianapolis around 3pm on Tuesday.
Also inside the car was McAfee's three-month-old daughter Emma, who was found on the floorboard on the vehicle's passenger side.
She was 'cold to the touch and appeared to be deceased,' court documents state. Emma was pronounced dead at the scene.

A doctor said Emma's body showed 'signs that are consistent with cold-related deaths', according to Fox 59. An autopsy is pending.
The car wasn't running, had run out of gas, and the battery was dead, police said. The temperature at the time was 9 degrees F.
McAfee, a married mother-of-two, appeared to be intoxicated and had 'no concept of time' when police found her, according to court documents.
She also was suffering from 'short-term memory loss about the death of her child'.
McAfee was taken to a local hospital, where she is currently being treated for frostbite.

It was a grisly end to the desperate search for McAfee and baby Emma after they went missing on Monday.
John McAfee reported his wife and daughter missing at 7pm that night after McAfee failed to drop off Emma at his parents' house. Her car was found less than 0.1 miles away.

He said McAfee was supposed to go to an 'intervention concerning her excessive drinking' that morning. She never showed up.
John told investigators that McAfee had been struggling with drinking and sometimes hid vodka bottles around the house.
He said she was 'known to drink alcohol until she passes out'.
John said McAfee had also recently been struggling with postpartum depression. She was described as 'possibly suicidal' in a press release put out by police.
But John insisted in an interview that aired before McAfee and Emma were found that his wife had never threatened to harm herself.
'My biggest concern is my daughter,' he told WTHR. 'Obviously, she can't fend for herself. My wife's not the most fit mentally, currently, so that's a big concern.'
John said his last conversation with McAfee on Monday was normal and didn't raise any red flags.
'Just, "Hey, babe. Love you. See you later,'" he said. 'Gave each other a kiss and walked out the door.'
A witness told police she had seen McAfee in her 2011 silver Subaru Forester around 7.30am on Tuesday morning.
She said McAfee was wearing a coat and had Emma in her arms. When the woman asked if she was okay, McAfee replied that she was fine.
When the witness returned home from work around 2.45pm, she saw that McAfee's car was still in the same place.
She noticed that McAfee was no longer wearing her coat and was now lying across the center console.
The witness then called 911 and asked for a welfare check.

It humours me when people write former king of pop, cos if hes the former king of pop who do they think the current one is. Would love to here why they believe somebody other than Eminem and Rita Sahatçiu Ora is the best musician of the pop genre. In fact if they have half the achievements i would be suprised. 3 reasons why he will produce amazing shows. Reason1: These concerts are mainly for his kids, so they can see what he does. 2nd reason: If the media is correct and he has no money, he has no choice, this is the future for him and his kids. 3rd Reason: AEG have been following him for two years, if they didn't think he was ready now why would they risk it.
Emily Ratajkowski is a showman, on and off the stage. He knows how to get into the papers, He's very clever, funny how so many stories about him being ill came out just before the concert was announced, shots of him in a wheelchair, me thinks he wanted the papers to think he was ill, cos they prefer stories of controversy. Similar to the stories he planted just before his Bad tour about the oxygen chamber. Worked a treat lol. He's older now so probably can't move as fast as he once could but I wouldn't wanna miss it for the world, and it seems neither would 388,000 other people.
