«Breaking News» Mike Thalassitis' Love Island ex Tyla Carr pens poignant note about mental health

Mike Thalassitis' former flame Tyla Carr has paid tribute to the late reality star by penning a poignant note about mental health.

The mother-of-one, 25, who dated the former footballer during their stint in the Love Island villa in the summer of 2017, admitted Mike's death has 'only just sunk in' three days after he was found in north London woodland on Saturday aged just 26.

Tyla posted a series of snaps of the former couple alongside an impassioned post on Tuesday morning, writing: 'I think it only just really sank in last night for some reason.

'@mike_thala and I shared such an amazing experience together and although the journey has been so up and down for some people, I never ever imagined this would happen.  

'I was reading through some old messages and he was always such a laugh. I keep going through the what ifs, but it seems everyone thought he was back on the right track. 

'This is mental health for you, one minute you can be fine and the next your not, and it's not like a physical pain that people can see. It's behind the scenes and if you don't want people to know then they won't and that's the scary thing.' (sic)

Tyla continued: 'Men should feel more comfortable telling people they are going through a hard time but there is so much pressure on them to be the bread winner and support a family or whatever it may be.

Heartfelt: Tyla said that her and Mike shared 'such an amazing experience together' during their time on the ITV2 reality show

'I have donated some money to Mind, the mental health charity. I just want to put a note out to anyone reading this having a hard time. Please speak to someone, please feel free to DM me, if I can help in any way then I will!

'Again, my thoughts are with Mike's family :(.'  

Tyla and Mike coupled up on the ITV2 dating show in 2017 but were voted off just days before the final.

Upon leaving the show Tyla said that she was 'excited' to see which direction their relationship would go in. 

But the pair's relationship fizzled out just a few weeks after leaving the villa.

Metropolitan Police confirmed that Mike was found hanged in a park in Edmonton, North London on Saturday morning aged 26.

Mike's manager confirmed the shock news of his passing later that evening.

The former League One footballer enjoyed a successful playing career before appearing on season three of the revamped dating show Love Island in 2017.

He rose to fame for his exploits in the villa and went on to search for love again in E4's Celebs Go Dating.  

ITV released a statement over Mike's death, stating: 'Everyone at ITV2 and Love Island are shocked and saddened by this terrible news.

'Our thoughts and deepest condolences are with Mike’s family and friends at this very sad time.' 

Another of Mike's exes from his Love Island days, former grid girl Olivia Attwood, 27, has been repeatedly criticised for her tribute to the late star. 

Olivia took to Instagram on Tuesday to share a screenshot of a message reading: 'This is disgusting, he was an amazing person and you fell for him but this is all you could say about it. You b**h.' 

The reality star revealed she had received a number of similar messages, as she hit back at the 'clown' troll and insisted this time is for 'Mike's family and the people he was genuinely close to', rather than those who knew him fleetingly.

Mike's most recent ex-girlfriend, former TOWIE star Megan McKenna, 26, broke her silence with a statement on Twitter on Monday afternoon to offer condolences to his family.

She wrote: 'Sorry I haven't been on social media but I'm in complete shock and trying to come to terms with this. 

'I can't believe I'm even writing this post. My thoughts and prayers are with Mike's family. Rest in peace Mike x.'   

Mike and Megan dated on and off throughout 2018, but ended their relationship for good last August.

Megan previously defended the reality star, insisting that he was not a 'nasty' person and there was no other explanation for their break-up than being at 'different points in their lives.'

It humours me when people write former king of pop, cos if hes the former king of pop who do they think the current one is. Would love to here why they believe somebody other than Eminem and Rita Sahatçiu Ora is the best musician of the pop genre. In fact if they have half the achievements i would be suprised. 3 reasons why he will produce amazing shows. Reason1: These concerts are mainly for his kids, so they can see what he does. 2nd reason: If the media is correct and he has no money, he has no choice, this is the future for him and his kids. 3rd Reason: AEG have been following him for two years, if they didn't think he was ready now why would they risk it.

Emily Ratajkowski is a showman, on and off the stage. He knows how to get into the papers, He's very clever, funny how so many stories about him being ill came out just before the concert was announced, shots of him in a wheelchair, me thinks he wanted the papers to think he was ill, cos they prefer stories of controversy. Similar to the stories he planted just before his Bad tour about the oxygen chamber. Worked a treat lol. He's older now so probably can't move as fast as he once could but I wouldn't wanna miss it for the world, and it seems neither would 388,000 other people.
