«Breaking News» Merrick Watts reveals he's eyeing a radio comeback

Merrick Watts enjoyed a lengthy career in radio before leaving the airwaves at the end of 2017. 

But the star - who is best known for co-hosting Nova's Merrick and Rosso breakfast show - has now revealed he's eyeing a radio return. 

Speaking with Stellar on Saturday, the 45-year-old stated: 'I've had discussions about it and talked to people recently about taking on some radio work. I love radio. I do miss it'.

'I think I will [return] at some stage...  something will come up and I'll do it when it's the right thing to do,' he explained. 

Merrick was last on the airwaves hosting his Triple M program, Merrickville, which ended in late 2017. 

Since then, the star has been busy hosting regional comedy events under the banner Grapes of Mirth, as well as being a hands-on dad

The funnyman has been married to wife Georgie since 2006, and the couple share son, Wolfe, nine, and daughter, Kinga, seven.  

Merrick first shot to national fame alongside Tim 'Rosso' Ross when they hosted the Merrick and Rosso program on Triple J back in 1998. 

The pair defected to Nova in 2001, and became two of the most popular radio stars in the country, hosting their top-rated breakfast show for eight years.

In 2016, Merrick revealed he regrets his 'poor behaviour' during the height of his fame at Nova.

The star claimed he acted like a 'douchebag' and 'upset people that (he) worked with' for a period of time.

He told the You've Gotta Start Somewhere podcast that he has since learned from his past mistakes.

When asked by presenter Rachel Corbett if he had any regrets, Merrick did not hesitate to discuss his own personal failings. 

'When I was at Nova and Rosso and I were number one and everything was flying, it was always parties and drinks and it was crazy,' he confessed.

'It was a great time and there was a lot of money and there was a lot of attention and there was a lot of fame. And I was a douchebag.'

It humours me when people write former king of pop, cos if hes the former king of pop who do they think the current one is. Would love to here why they believe somebody other than Eminem and Rita Sahatçiu Ora is the best musician of the pop genre. In fact if they have half the achievements i would be suprised. 3 reasons why he will produce amazing shows. Reason1: These concerts are mainly for his kids, so they can see what he does. 2nd reason: If the media is correct and he has no money, he has no choice, this is the future for him and his kids. 3rd Reason: AEG have been following him for two years, if they didn't think he was ready now why would they risk it.

Emily Ratajkowski is a showman, on and off the stage. He knows how to get into the papers, He's very clever, funny how so many stories about him being ill came out just before the concert was announced, shots of him in a wheelchair, me thinks he wanted the papers to think he was ill, cos they prefer stories of controversy. Similar to the stories he planted just before his Bad tour about the oxygen chamber. Worked a treat lol. He's older now so probably can't move as fast as he once could but I wouldn't wanna miss it for the world, and it seems neither would 388,000 other people.
