Does morning television have a new queen?
Gayle King is being widely praised and celebrated for her sit-down with R Kelly on CBS This Morning, the first time that the singer has been interviewed in years.
In a 90 minute interview that was later edited for the program, King remained steely and serene while Kelly became increasingly unhinged.
This all culminated in the moment that a member of Kelly's team was forced to step in and push the singer away from King as he wildly gesticulated and shouted while standing just inches from the journalist.
King sat quietly in her chair throughout the rant, appearing both unfazed and undaunted by the singer, before eventually agreeing ton turn the cameras off for a few minutes.
Then, once Kelly had collected himself, King returned to her line of questioning with the same sense of calm and composure.
Among those celebrating King was none other than the Queen of Daytime TV herself, Oprah Winfrey.
'Bravo @GayleKing for calm and and steady focus during @RKelly interview. Outstanding job! Tell @CBSThisMorning we want to see the whole thing,' wrote King's best friend.

Calm in the storm: Gayle King is being roundly praised for her astonishing composure and tenacity while interviewing accused child rapist R Kelly (King and Kelly above)
Making a scene: In a 90 minute interview that will air over two days, King remained steely and serene while Kelly became increasingly unhinged
Impressed: 'There’s a lot going on in these R. Kelly clips. But one thing that jumps out is how direct, super clear and no frills these questions are by @GayleKing,' wrote Oscar nominee Ava DuVernay
Praise: King's co-host Bianna Golodryga wrote: 'An interview that has everyone talking... @GayleKing with a master class on how to remain composed, prepared, and unfazed'

'There’s a lot going on in these R. Kelly clips. But one thing that jumps out is how direct, super clear and no frills these questions are by @GayleKing,' wrote Oscar nominee Ava DuVernay.
'She’s asking exactly what most of us would ask if we were in her seat. Crazy how refreshing it is. Speaks to how rare it is.'
King's co-host Bianna Golodryga wrote: 'An interview that has everyone talking... @GayleKing with a master class on how to remain composed, prepared, and unfazed.'
Over at NBC, Willie Geist also could not help by herald the competition, simply writing: 'Gayle. King.'
Sports Illustrated writer Jimmy Traina echoed that sentiment but with a twist, stating: 'Gayle F***ing King.'
Yamiche Alcindor, the White House correspondent at the PBS News Hour, wrote: 'This is wild. @GayleKing is again teaching a master’s class in interviewing. She remains so calm and focused while @RKelly loses it.'
King refused to back down at any point during the interview, asking Kelly point blank to address allegations that he was enslaving women.
'I don't need to. Why would I?' declared Kelly.
'How stupid would it be for R. Kelly, with all I've been through in my way, way past, to hold somebody, let alone 4, 5, 6, 50, you said – how stupid would I be to do that?'
He then tried to turn the question on King, attacking her for even thinking it might be true.
'That's stupid! Use your common sense. Forget the blogs, forget how you feel about me. Hate me if you want to, love me if you want. But just use your common sense,' said Kelly.
'How stupid would it be for me, with my crazy past and what I've been through ... oh right now I just think I need to be a monster and hold girls against their will, chain them up in my basement, and don't let them eat, don't let them out, unless they need some shoes down the street from their uncle!'
Michelle Bhasin pointed out: 'The photo of @RKelly yelling at @GayleKing should remind everyone that rape isn’t about sex. It is an act of violence, about power and control.'
Tarana Burke, who started the #MeToo movement over a decade ago, wrote: 'Thinking or RK’s survivors this morning. Hoping they have a modicum of @GayleKing’s level of unbothered by that fool’s shenanigans. Praying they aren’t triggered by watching their abuser try to discredit them on national TV and hoping they rest well knowing his days are numbered.'
'The symbol of women everywhere. Tired. Fed up. Used to your lies. Over your tears. Composed to a stunning degree,' wrote Zara Rahim.
Ira Madison III wrote: 'I’m pretty sure Gayle King runs B613 so R Kelly better watch who he leaps up at.'
That was a reference to the elite agency run by the father of Olivia Pope in Scandal.
Exit: In the interview, Kelly denied ever having sex with underage woman and claimed the two women who live with him now were sold to him by their parents (Kelly leaving prison last week with his lawyer)
Master class: 'The symbol of women everywhere. Tired. Fed up. Used to your lies. Over your tears. Composed to a stunning degree,' wrote Zara Rahim
Admiration: Over at NBC, Willie Geist also could not help by herald the competition, simply writing: 'Gayle. King.'
F***ing admiration: Sports Illustrated writer Jimmy Traina echoed that sentiment but with a twist, stating: 'Gayle F***ing King' (above)
Kelly also claimed at one point during the interview that the two women he was currently living with were sold to him by their own parents.
'What kind of love is it that keeps these young women away from their families?' asked King, referencing the fact that the parents of these women have been desperately tryying to see them
'You're saying the parents handed their daughters, Azriel and Jocelyn, over you to? That's what you're saying?' asked King after Kelly ranted about one of the girl's being brought to his concert by her father.
'Absolutely. Are the cameras still going? Absolutely.'
There was also the denial that he ever slept with any underage women.
Kelly appeared in a Chicago courtroom last week where his lawyer formally entered a not guilty plea on his behalf to 10 counts of aggravated criminal sexual abuse.
The singer, who wore an orange prison jumpsuit in court, identified himself to the judge at the start of the hearing, but did not speak again during the proceedings.
Once the hearing was over, Kelly returned to D. O. C. Division 8 RTU, with the singer still unable to cover his $1 million bond.
Hours later he was free, thanks to Valencia Love, a local daycare owner and restaurateur who only met Kelly last September.
Kelly's lawyer, Steven Greenberg, responded to the charges with a statement over the weekend, saying: 'We haven't seen any evidence, any reason to believe these allegations are credible. He's a rock star. He doesn't need to have nonconsensual sex.'
Aggravated criminal sexual abuse is a Class 2 felony with a sentencing range of 3-7 years in prison. He faces up to 70 years behind bars if convicted.
These new charges come one week after the emergence of a rape tape that allegedly features Kelly and a minor.
And last week, lawyer Michael Avenatti stated that he is working to obtain new tapes that allegedly show Kelly with underage females.
The charges are from incidents involving four female victims, three of whom are underage.
First was H.W., who was under the age of 17 between the dates of May 26, 1998 and May 25, 1999.
Kelly is charged with four counts of aggravated criminal sexual abuse for the alleged offenses involving that victim.
Those include an instance of 'contact between Robert Kelly's penis and H.W's sex organ,' an instance where the contact was with 'H.W's mouth' and when 'Robert Kelly touched his penis to H.W's breast.'
The fourth count stems from the claim that 'Robert Kelly touched his mouth to H.W's breast.
R.L. was involved in an incident which occurred between September 26, 1998 and September 25, 2001 when she was a minor.
That alleged incident resulted in two counts of aggravated criminal sexual abuse - one for 'contact between Robert Kelly's penis and R.L's sex organ' one for contact with her 'mouth.'
The third victim L.C. was of the age of consent on February 18, 2003.
'A grand jury returned an indictment of one count of aggravated criminal sexual abuse based on the transmission of semen by Robert Kelly upon any part of the body of the victim for the purpose of sexual gratification during the course of the underlying forcible felony of Attempt Criminal Sexual Assault,' said Foxx.
The fourth and final victim was identified as J.P., and the incidents she was involved in led to the final three sexual abuse charges against Kelly.
Those incidents took place between May 1, 2009 and January 31, 2010, and the victim was under the age of 17.
In that case there was 'contact between Robert Kelly's penis and J.P's sex organ,' 'mouth' and 'the transmission of semen by Robert Kelly.'
Foxx had made a very public plea for accusers to come forward last month, and there could be more charges to come.
Kelly's indictment came one day after the Cook County State's Attorney's Office announced that Jussie Smollett had been indicted by a grand jury on a single charge of disorderly conduct for falsifying a police report.
The speed with which Smollett was indicted had led some to question why the State's Attorney's Office seemed to be taking their time with Kelly but rushing through the Smollett case.
Illinois is just one of the states where there is an open investigation into Kelly.
Lawyers for the Southern District of New York have also been meeting with alleged victims as well as agents from the IRS and FBI while the Department of Homeland Security has also opened up a probe.
This all comes in the wake of the Lifetime series Surviving R Kelly.
The six-part docuseries ended on a devastating note, with the parents of one of the young women who had run away with Kelly seen throwing rocks at his studio windows trying to get the attention of their daughter.
When they called Chicago police however, the members of law enforcement were not able to legally enter the property.
Kelly had yet to be hit with any criminal charges in the wake of the docuseries until Friday.

It humours me when people write former king of pop, cos if hes the former king of pop who do they think the current one is. Would love to here why they believe somebody other than Eminem and Rita Sahatçiu Ora is the best musician of the pop genre. In fact if they have half the achievements i would be suprised. 3 reasons why he will produce amazing shows. Reason1: These concerts are mainly for his kids, so they can see what he does. 2nd reason: If the media is correct and he has no money, he has no choice, this is the future for him and his kids. 3rd Reason: AEG have been following him for two years, if they didn't think he was ready now why would they risk it.
Emily Ratajkowski is a showman, on and off the stage. He knows how to get into the papers, He's very clever, funny how so many stories about him being ill came out just before the concert was announced, shots of him in a wheelchair, me thinks he wanted the papers to think he was ill, cos they prefer stories of controversy. Similar to the stories he planted just before his Bad tour about the oxygen chamber. Worked a treat lol. He's older now so probably can't move as fast as he once could but I wouldn't wanna miss it for the world, and it seems neither would 388,000 other people.
