The former president of Greenpeace Canada has branded Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez a 'pompous little twit' in a scathing Twitter rant over her Green New Deal.
Patrick Moore, who worked with the environmental advocacy group Greenpeace Canada for 15 years, lashed out at the Democratic-Socialist for backing the proposal that seeks to address climate change while tackling economic inequality.
While part of the deal seeks to eliminate fossil fuels over the course of the next 10 years, Moore argues that such a move would be catastrophic and impractical for society.
'If fossil fuels were banned every tree in the world would be cut down for fuel for cooking and heating. You would bring about mass death,' he tweeted on Saturday, sparking a heated rant.
Patrick Moore, who was the president of Greenpeace Canada for nine years, has taken to Twitter to slam Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez as a hypocrite and 'pompous little twit' for her controversial Green New Deal Plan
He launched a heated Twitter rant against the Socialist Congress freshman on Saturday writing 'Pompous little twit. You don't have a plan to grow food for 8 billion people without fossil fuels'
He went on to say she doesn't know what she's talking about when it comes to the environment
Tweeting at her he wrote: 'Pompous little twit. You don’t have a plan to grow food for 8 billion people without fossil fuels, or get food into the cities. Horses?'
He added: 'The problem with @AOC is she doesn't know whether or not she knows what she is talking about. Makes it harder to think straight.'
Moore left Greenpeace 33 year ago claiming that the organization was 'hijacked by eco-fascists'. He's now one of Greenpeace's greatest critics.
He even penned a book about his break-up with the environment advocacy group, which runs in over 39 countries, called Confessions of a Greenpeace Dropout: The Making of a Sensible Environmentalist.
He described her controversial economic stimulus plan, the Green New Deal, as 'worse than World War II'.
'Imagine no fuel for cars, trucks, tractors, combines, harvesters, power-plants, ships, aircraft, etc. Transport of people & goods would grind to a halt,' he wrote.
He continued to slam the program as 'so completely crazy it is bound to be rejected in the end.'
'I suspect @AOC is a flash in the pan...But she does have wind in her sales due to the political situation. 2020 will be even more interesting now,' he tweeted on Sunday.
He also bashed the New York Representative for once calling climate change the World War II of our time.
'It's her @GND that would be worse than WW2,' he said referring to her deal.
He slammed AOC for previously comparing the issue of climate change to today's World War II
Moore is so vehemently against AOC's proposal he tweeted that the Green New Deal 'is so completely crazy it is bound to be rejected in the end'
He even went so far as to slam her as a 'garden-variety hypocrite' after the New York Post accused of her frequently using Uber and Lyft rides, contributing to gas consumption and pollution, during her 2018 campaign instead of taking the subway.
'You're just a garden-variety hypocrite like the others. And you have ZERO expertise at any of the things you pretend to know,' he tweeted Saturday.
AOC responded to that piece herself saying 'I also fly and use A/C'.
She responded to critics who called her a hypocrite for contributing to fossil fuels by taking Uber and Lyft saying 'I also fly and use A/C'
'Living in the world as it is isn’t an argument against working towards a better future. The Green New Deal is about putting a LOT of people to work in developing new technologies, building new infrastructure, and getting us to 100% renewable energy,' she tweeted Saturday.
Following the Twitter rant, Greenpeace spokesman released a statement saying Moore's views aren't representative of the group.
'His statements about Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and the Green New Deal have nothing to do with Greenpeace’s positions and should not be reported as such,' the group said to the Post.
'Mr. Moore frequently cites a long-ago affiliation with Greenpeace to gain legitimacy in the media, and media outlets often either state or imply that Mr. Moore still represents Greenpeace. He does not,' the group added.

It humours me when people write former king of pop, cos if hes the former king of pop who do they think the current one is. Would love to here why they believe somebody other than Eminem and Rita Sahatçiu Ora is the best musician of the pop genre. In fact if they have half the achievements i would be suprised. 3 reasons why he will produce amazing shows. Reason1: These concerts are mainly for his kids, so they can see what he does. 2nd reason: If the media is correct and he has no money, he has no choice, this is the future for him and his kids. 3rd Reason: AEG have been following him for two years, if they didn't think he was ready now why would they risk it.
Emily Ratajkowski is a showman, on and off the stage. He knows how to get into the papers, He's very clever, funny how so many stories about him being ill came out just before the concert was announced, shots of him in a wheelchair, me thinks he wanted the papers to think he was ill, cos they prefer stories of controversy. Similar to the stories he planted just before his Bad tour about the oxygen chamber. Worked a treat lol. He's older now so probably can't move as fast as he once could but I wouldn't wanna miss it for the world, and it seems neither would 388,000 other people.
