'I think it's really important as an actor to try and look at why she's doing this, you can judge very quickly and say it's a terrible thing, but I've tried to get some sense of understanding of why she's behaved the way she has and what's going on with her.'

Commenting on the reaction to the storyline, which has garnered Ofcom complaints from Emmerdale viewers, she said: 'We've had a real mixed reaction, we've had people who are so incredibly shocked by the story, we don't want to tell a romantic titillating story.

'Emmerdale has done a good job in not to do that, and we've some people saying "stop this now, this is enough already", and we've also had an enormous amount of people say "thank you, this does happen".'

Discussing her twisted character on the show, Louisa said it had been a challenge to transform into Maya.

'She has this veneer of being a professional, presentable she seems to have a relatively normal relationship with David, there's nothing that's screaming dirty old man', she said.

'I feel very much protected and that we are looked after by everyone around us.'

Fans of the ITV1 pre-watershed soap were not impressed with episodes last week, which saw Maya continue to groom Jacob, culminating in them sleeping together.

As of March 7, 60 viewers have filed complaints with Ofcom after the scenes aired between February 27 and March 4.

Fans have watched the cold and calculating Maya groom Jacob over the last few months, waiting until he had turned 16 before she made her move.

However, some found the scene where the pair slept together in a seedy hotel room too much to bear and complained to the regulator.

An Ofcom spokesperson told MailOnline: 'We are assessing these complaints against our broadcasting rules, before deciding whether or not to investigate.'

The shocking scenes came about after Maya and boyfriend David were supposed to spend a romantic evening together in a hotel, which she had actually booked for Jacob as a 'birthday treat'.

But after their night away was ruined, due to David finding their hotel receipt, a jealous Jacob decided to sabotage his father's overnight stay by messing up an order back at his farm shop.

Jacob's plan worked as David called Maya to reveal he'd be late, causing an argument between the pair which resulted in the teacher telling him not to bother coming.

However, this left the path clear for Jacob to show up at the hotel and spend the night with Maya, with an unaware David left drinking at the pub.

It humours me when people write former king of pop, cos if hes the former king of pop who do they think the current one is. Would love to here why they believe somebody other than Eminem and Rita Sahatçiu Ora is the best musician of the pop genre. In fact if they have half the achievements i would be suprised. 3 reasons why he will produce amazing shows. Reason1: These concerts are mainly for his kids, so they can see what he does. 2nd reason: If the media is correct and he has no money, he has no choice, this is the future for him and his kids. 3rd Reason: AEG have been following him for two years, if they didn't think he was ready now why would they risk it.

Emily Ratajkowski is a showman, on and off the stage. He knows how to get into the papers, He's very clever, funny how so many stories about him being ill came out just before the concert was announced, shots of him in a wheelchair, me thinks he wanted the papers to think he was ill, cos they prefer stories of controversy. Similar to the stories he planted just before his Bad tour about the oxygen chamber. Worked a treat lol. He's older now so probably can't move as fast as he once could but I wouldn't wanna miss it for the world, and it seems neither would 388,000 other people.
