Dolly Parton's younger sister has publicly slammed the singer for not being outspoken about the #MeToo movement.
Her sister Stella Parton criticized her sibling for remaining silent about sexual harassment in the country music industry and believes the star should use her high-profile position to speak out about abuse.
'I'm ashamed of my sister for keeping her mouth shut,' Stella said on the CountryLine 'Our Stories' podcast.
'She can run it when it is about something else, but speak up about injustice, Dolly Parton. Speak up. And speak out. Defend women, and don't just do it in a little song. Speak up.

'This is the first time I've really publicly called my sister out. But it's high time that some of these older women speak up and speak out. They've all gone through all kinds of abuse in this industry so: speak up.'
Stella went on to criticize her sister's friend Jane Fonda and also Meryl Streep for not speaking out more about harassment in the entertainment industry.
'In the same way that Jane Fonda and people who have been in Hollywood all these years and never said a word, like Meryl Streep was all big buddies with Harvey Weinstein until he got busted,' she said.
'And then she kinda came around to say, 'well, you know, that's terrible' … well, why didn't you speak up when it came down? You knew it? All these women just didn't speak up because they're afraid they're gonna mess with their fanbase. I think women would be more apt to respect you if you would speak up.'
Her comments comes after Dolly refused last week to label herself a feminist and indicated she did not want to be a #MeToo advocate.
Stella said she was 'ashamed' her sister Dolly hadn't been more vocal about sexual harassment in the country music industry
Dolly recently dismissed her 9-5 co-star Jane Fonda's belief that harassment in the workplace is worse now than it was back in 1980. She famously took to the stage with Fonda and their other co-star Lily Tomlin at the Emmy awards in 2017
'I don't think… I mean, I must be if being a feminist means I'm all for women, yes. But I don't feel I have to march, hold up a sign or label myself. I think the way I have conducted my life and my business and myself speaks for itself. I don't think of it as being feminist. It's not a label I have to put on myself. I'm just all for gals,' she told The Guardian.
The 73-year-old also recently dismissed her 9-5 co-star Jane Fonda's belief that harassment in the workplace is worse now than it was back in 1980.
'I'm pretty sure it's always been bad. It's just that with the #MeToo movement women are bolder to speak out against it,' Dolly said.
Dolly's comments came ahead of the London opening of the 9 to 5 musical - a remake of the 1980 film she starred in with Jane Fonda and Lily Tomlin in which three women get revenge of their male boss.
Fonda and Tomlin famously took to the stage with Dolly during the 2017 Emmys to compare the film to Donald Trump's presidency.
Dolly held back from criticizing Trump.
'In 1980, we refused to be controlled by a sexist, egotistical, lying, hypocritical bigot boss,' Fonda told the audience.
Tomlin added: 'And in 2017 we still refuse to be controlled by a sexist, egotistical, lying, hypocritical bigot boss.'

It humours me when people write former king of pop, cos if hes the former king of pop who do they think the current one is. Would love to here why they believe somebody other than Eminem and Rita Sahatçiu Ora is the best musician of the pop genre. In fact if they have half the achievements i would be suprised. 3 reasons why he will produce amazing shows. Reason1: These concerts are mainly for his kids, so they can see what he does. 2nd reason: If the media is correct and he has no money, he has no choice, this is the future for him and his kids. 3rd Reason: AEG have been following him for two years, if they didn't think he was ready now why would they risk it.
Emily Ratajkowski is a showman, on and off the stage. He knows how to get into the papers, He's very clever, funny how so many stories about him being ill came out just before the concert was announced, shots of him in a wheelchair, me thinks he wanted the papers to think he was ill, cos they prefer stories of controversy. Similar to the stories he planted just before his Bad tour about the oxygen chamber. Worked a treat lol. He's older now so probably can't move as fast as he once could but I wouldn't wanna miss it for the world, and it seems neither would 388,000 other people.
