«Breaking News» Denise Drysdale speaks out about Ita Buttrose's new role as chair of the ABC

Denise Drysdale was reportedly locked in a bitter feud with her former Studio 10 co-star Ita Buttrose.

And on Saturday, the veteran comedienne spoke out about Ita's plum new appointment as chair of the ABC. 

In an interview with The Gold Coast Bulletin, the 70-year-old civilly congratulated  her rumoured rival on the role, saying: 'Ita will do a great job. She's a real go-getter — and she's 77.'

During their time together as co-hosts on Studio 10, there were widespread reports that Ita and Denise 'loathed' each other.

In November 2017, Denise hit headlines after reportedly throwing an entire bowl of Brussels sprouts at Ita as they filmed a Christmas special. 

Appearing irritated that the story is still being discussed, Denise told The Gold Coast Bulletin on Saturday: 'That bloody brussels sprout incident, that's what's going to be on my gravestone, I bet!'

Speaking to KIIS FM's Celeb HQ last year, Ita recalled her upset after Denise hurled the leafy vegetables at her during filming. 

'I don't really want to talk about Brussels sprout gate, but I will just for once,' Ita told hosts Zoe Marshall and John Caldwell. 

'It was not just one sprout, it was a bowlful,' she added, but denied that she was involved in an exchange of blows.

'I didn't throw any sprouts. I was working. This was our Christmas shoot. And I was working,' she said. 

Ita left the program in April 2018, six months after the infamous incident. 

Meanwhile, Denise confirmed the incident but insisted it was all a bit of light-hearted fun while the panel were celebrating the festive season. 

'I was in a jovial sort of mood and I threw a sprout at Ita. I lobbed it up and over the table at her and it hit her on the chest,' Denise told New Idea last April.  

'The upshot is that she thought I disrespected her but I didn't and I don't. I am so sorry I did it,' she told the publication.

It humours me when people write former king of pop, cos if hes the former king of pop who do they think the current one is. Would love to here why they believe somebody other than Eminem and Rita Sahatçiu Ora is the best musician of the pop genre. In fact if they have half the achievements i would be suprised. 3 reasons why he will produce amazing shows. Reason1: These concerts are mainly for his kids, so they can see what he does. 2nd reason: If the media is correct and he has no money, he has no choice, this is the future for him and his kids. 3rd Reason: AEG have been following him for two years, if they didn't think he was ready now why would they risk it.

Emily Ratajkowski is a showman, on and off the stage. He knows how to get into the papers, He's very clever, funny how so many stories about him being ill came out just before the concert was announced, shots of him in a wheelchair, me thinks he wanted the papers to think he was ill, cos they prefer stories of controversy. Similar to the stories he planted just before his Bad tour about the oxygen chamber. Worked a treat lol. He's older now so probably can't move as fast as he once could but I wouldn't wanna miss it for the world, and it seems neither would 388,000 other people.
