«Breaking News» Christie Brinkley looks fabulous at 65 as she prepares to reboot her role as Roxie Hart in Chicago

Christie Brinkley has been a style icon ever since Sports Illustrated launched her to superstardom in the 70s.

And at 65-years-old that hasn't changed, with the model looking at chic as ever as she arrived to appear on The Today Show on Tuesday.

Promoting her return to Broadway as the iconic Roxie Hart in the musical Chicago, Christie showed off her perfect figure in a fitted black dress and belted overcoat, all topped off with a winning smile.

Chatting to Kathie Lee, Hoda and guest co-host Joel McHale, Christie revealed she was delighted to be asked back, eight years after making her Broadway debut in the musical.

'I love everything about doing this show,' she said.

After her initial four month spell on Boardway, Brinkley spent a month playing Roxie on London's West End, before headlining a U.S. tour of the musical.

She said she didn't hesitate when she was asked to return to the stage.

'Well of course I jumped at the chance,' said Christie, adding: 'I only have 13 days in rehearsal and I'm going on stage Friday.'

She said one of the highlights of her previous tour, was her appearance on stage in her hometown of Los Angeles, at The Pantages Theatre.

And Christie recalled her first time at the theatre - attending the Academy Awards.

'My dad was a television writer and producer so somehow I got invited,' she explained. 'I was about eight and I went to find the ladies room and I got lost and Cary Grant helped me find my seat and when I saw down Audrey Hepburn was right in front of me.'

So it meant something special when she herself stepped onto that stage.

'There I was coming back to my home town as Roxie Hart at The Pantages.'

Christie Brinkley doesn’t let criticism hold any “power” over her.

The 65-year-old model and actress has said she feels more confident than ever now that she’s older, as her age and experience has taught her that the opinions of strangers don’t matter, as long as she has people around her who love her for who she is.

She said: “Around 50, you start letting yourself off the hook, and you have a real awareness of priorities and what really matters. Others’ opinions just don’t have power over you anymore. The only opinions that really matter to you are those of the people you love.”

And the ‘National Lampoon’s Vacation’ actress isn’t worried about getting older, as she knows ageing is “inevitable”, but she admits she is “concerned” about “living up to the image” of older women.

She added: “When I started doing the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit issue [in 1979], I was very concerned about trying to live up to the image they projected of this hot body in a bathing suit. I’m kind of in the same situation with ageing. Ageing is inevitable. If I’m lucky, I’m going to be running around as an older woman with my hard-earned wrinkles. It’s inevitable.”

Christie still feels as young as ever though, as she says she sometimes forgets how old she is.

Speaking to Us Weekly magazine, she said: “I honestly have had years in my life where I’d be like, ‘Wait a minute, how old am I again?’ I just don’t think about it.”

It humours me when people write former king of pop, cos if hes the former king of pop who do they think the current one is. Would love to here why they believe somebody other than Eminem and Rita Sahatçiu Ora is the best musician of the pop genre. In fact if they have half the achievements i would be suprised. 3 reasons why he will produce amazing shows. Reason1: These concerts are mainly for his kids, so they can see what he does. 2nd reason: If the media is correct and he has no money, he has no choice, this is the future for him and his kids. 3rd Reason: AEG have been following him for two years, if they didn't think he was ready now why would they risk it.

Emily Ratajkowski is a showman, on and off the stage. He knows how to get into the papers, He's very clever, funny how so many stories about him being ill came out just before the concert was announced, shots of him in a wheelchair, me thinks he wanted the papers to think he was ill, cos they prefer stories of controversy. Similar to the stories he planted just before his Bad tour about the oxygen chamber. Worked a treat lol. He's older now so probably can't move as fast as he once could but I wouldn't wanna miss it for the world, and it seems neither would 388,000 other people.
