The Canadian high-fashion brand that Jessica Mulroney said she helped to save has denied her claim that the label was on the verge of shutting down before she dressed her close friend Meghan Markle in one of its designs.
The 39-year-old stylist picked out an $800 sleeveless trench dress by the Calgary-based brand Nonie for Meghan, 37, to wear to the Nelson Mandela Centenary Exhibition with Prince Harry in July 2018.
And in an interview with Harper's Bazaar, Jessica said the exposure Nonie received from the Duchess of Sussex being seen in the blush-colored frock saved the house from shutting down. However, when asked about the claim, the brand refuted it, telling DailyMail.com that it was 'not factual.'

Claim: Jessica, 39, picked out an $800 sleeveless trench dress by Nonie for Meghan, 37, to wear in July 2018. The stylist said the exposure saved the house from shutting down
For the Harper's Bazaar piece, Jessica tried on several different ensembles, each of which was suited to a different occasion or theme, from a date night to a TV appearance.
When it came to travel, Jessica added a Nonie coat to her look, which prompted her to speak up about her past work with the brand.
The piece said: 'For a demonstration of her approach to travel (lots of layers and an oversize Gucci bag), Mulroney shrugged into an animal-print coat from Nonie, revealing that Markle's July 2018 appearance in a trench dress from the Calgary-based brand saved the house from shutting down.'
A spokesperson for Nonie said that there was no truth to the claim, telling DailyMail.com in an email: 'Nonie was not about to shut down prior to the appearance.'
However, while the fashion house may not have been on the verge of closing, Nonie's designer Nina Kharey was admittedly thrilled when Meghan stepped out in one of her designs.
'My dad was in tears,' she told Hello! last year, adding: 'It’s just been crazy.'
Nina said she experienced the 'Meghan Effect' in full force when she was flooded with emails and Instagram followers.
Not right: A spokesperson for Nonie refuted the claim, telling DailyMail.com that the label was not about to shut down prior to Meghan's appearance in the trench dress
On the other hand: Nonie's designer Nina Kharey was admittedly thrilled to see the royal in one of her designs at the time, saying Meghan and Jessica are 'both amazing women'
'[Jessica has] been a client of a few of my pieces and she’s also a strong advocate for Canadian designers, so I’m sure she showed her my look book and then that’s how it started,' she explained.
'They both are amazing women. I love supporting other women and I love dressing strong, influential women and I would love for it to happen again,' Nina added. 'I am relishing in this; I’m enjoying the moment!'
Jessica, who actually wore an animal-print coat from Nonie during her shoot with Harper's Bazaar, said she likes to help out her fellow Canadians who are in the fashion industry.
'It's tough to be a designer. It is really tough to be a Canadian designer,' she said. 'Sometimes all you need is that onetime break and it'll change your life. If you get your item on a celebrity, that's almost like the top of the top — a new way of creating business.'
While Jessica is often referred to as Meghan's 'unofficial stylist,' she's also worked with other celebrities in a more official capacity, including Shania Twain and Canada's first lady, Sophie Grégoire Trudeau.
The fashion guru is also believed to be the one who dressed Meghan in a tuxedo mini-dress by the Canadian label Judith & Charles back in August 2018.

Jessica has worked with the company for at least two years and has dressed Canada's first lady in clothing from the brand for numerous public appearances.
'I have a lot of friends in the entertainment business and I myself have a significant Instagram account,' she told Harper's Bazaar, 'so I can throw them a bone and wear the earrings if I like them. Or if I know somebody's doing a red carpet, I'll be like, "Hey, you should try these." It's kind of organic, but if I can do it, it usually does help.'
Jessica said that most people don't realize that styling is a 'small part' of what she does, explaining that she does a lot of work on the 'back end of things.'
In fact, most of the styling she does is for weddings, since she was one of a few women to launch Kleinfeld in Canada a few years ago. Jessica said she has had 'about 30 NHL brides' in that time.
Jessica also doles out fashion advice on TV, including Citytv's show CityLine and more recently, Good Morning America. She started working for GMA last fall, which has her running back and forth between New York City and her home in Toronto.
Shortly after Meghan's baby shower last month, DailyMail.com reported that GMA brought her on in hopes that she would help ABC gain access to Meghan — despite conflicting reports that it was strictly written into her contract that she was not to be asked about her famous friend.

Contract aside, when Jessica didn't give the network the scoop that Meghan was in town, they were reportedly not happy.
An executive with ABC News told DailyMail.com in February that 'when she made her agreement to appear on ABC it was on the condition that we couldn't ask her anything about Meghan Markle. Even when she is on set we can't even link her with Meghan.
'Many of us knew this would get us in trouble one day and this week it proved true,' the executive went on. 'We had no idea Meghan was in town, but our so-called team member knew and didn't help us at all.
'What made things worse was when Gayle King showed up at Meghan's baby shower on Wednesday and then discussed it the following day on CBS This Morning, our competitor. Yet we can't book Jessica to talk about it.
'We get absolutely nothing from Jessica, so we should give her nothing in return.'
A second source at ABC denied that Jessica won't talk about Meghan on air, saying: 'Jessica hasn't refused to talk about Meghan because she hasn't been asked about Meghan.'
Busy as can be: Jessica said that most people don't realize that styling is a 'small part' of what she does, explaining that she does a lot of work on the 'back end of things'
On TV! Despite some conflicting reports, Jessica insisted that things are going great at Good Morning America, where she is a contributor
The source also denied that Jessica had anything in her contract that stated she couldn't be asked about the royal.
According to a producer at Good Morning America who spoke to DailyMail.com, several of the producers are furious with Jessica for not giving them a heads up about the baby shower.
One said to DailyMail.com: 'Jessica should consider herself very lucky to have such a high profile job on GMA. She does not have it because she is talented, she has it because of her connection to Meghan Markle.'
'ABC management have egg on their face. They should fire Jessica immediately as she brings nothing to the show.'
Yet, Jessica swears that her contributor gig is not in jeopardy, and another GMA executive gave a conflicting statement to Harper's Bazaar.
'Jess is incredibly talented and brings a smart eye to accessible style,' the exec said. 'She is intimately involved with each of her segments from the initial pitch to the model fittings to each of the tips and takeaways for our viewers. We love working with her.'

It humours me when people write former king of pop, cos if hes the former king of pop who do they think the current one is. Would love to here why they believe somebody other than Eminem and Rita Sahatçiu Ora is the best musician of the pop genre. In fact if they have half the achievements i would be suprised. 3 reasons why he will produce amazing shows. Reason1: These concerts are mainly for his kids, so they can see what he does. 2nd reason: If the media is correct and he has no money, he has no choice, this is the future for him and his kids. 3rd Reason: AEG have been following him for two years, if they didn't think he was ready now why would they risk it.
Emily Ratajkowski is a showman, on and off the stage. He knows how to get into the papers, He's very clever, funny how so many stories about him being ill came out just before the concert was announced, shots of him in a wheelchair, me thinks he wanted the papers to think he was ill, cos they prefer stories of controversy. Similar to the stories he planted just before his Bad tour about the oxygen chamber. Worked a treat lol. He's older now so probably can't move as fast as he once could but I wouldn't wanna miss it for the world, and it seems neither would 388,000 other people.
