A British tourist has died after a street fight between holidaymakers in Benidorm's Little England area.
Officers say the victim is a 33-year-old Scot who was on holiday in the famous Costa Blanca resort when a fight broke out with fellow British tourists.
The incident happened just after 3am this morning and police have launched an ongoing investigation.
An autopsy later today will give officers more clues about how he died.
A spokesman for the National Police in Alicante said: 'I can confirm a 33-year-old British man has died on the street in Benidorm.
'He was from Scotland and was on holiday in the resort.
'The investigation so far has determined that moments earlier according to witness testimony, the man participated in a fight with other people who appear to be other British people who were also holidaying in Benidorm.'

A source said an autopsy to determine the cause of death had yet to take place.
Police confirmed no arrests have yet been made.
A spokesman for Spain's National Police said: 'We received an emergency call at around 3.15am this morning.
'Police were mobilised and arrived at the scene to find two people trying to assist another who was lying on the ground.
'He was confirmed dead shortly afterwards.'
The spokesman added that a protocol for violent crimes had been activated immediately and the area cordoned off and specialist officers mobilised to launch an investigation into the death.
He said: 'The officers carried out a visual inspection of the scene along with a forensic expert and subsequently the man's body was removed.
'The National Police investigation is ongoing. No arrests have taken place at this stage.
'What we know at the moment from witnesses is that there had been a fight moments earlier, apparently between British nationals who were on holiday like the dead man who was also a tourist.'
The incident happened in a street called Calle Gerona - Gerona Street in English.
A well-placed source added: 'We have to be cautious at the moment because the cause of death is not yet known.
Last month two British men in Benidorm's 'Little England' area were arrested over a double stabbing
'The autopsy will be carried out today and will hopefully establish why this man died and whether it was the result of a blow or a heart attack or something else.
'In the coming hours police will have more information. The dead man is a 33-year-old Scot who was staying in a hotel in Benidorm.'
Calle Gerona crosses Mallorca Street, the street where an innocent British holidaymaker was among three people shot last July after he was caught up in a gang war between North African drug dealers and criminals from Eastern Europe.
Police said in December they had arrested the suspected gunman, describing him as a 42-year-old Serbian and the main leader of a criminal organisation allegedly involved in extortion and settling of scores.
Last month two Brits were arrested after a double stabbing at a bar called Beachcomber in the same Little England area of Benidorm.
Both men held over the incident were aged 20 and 21 and are believed to be Scottish.
Beachcomber, the bar where two workers were stabbed on February 24 after they tried to stop a fight between two Brits, is also in Mallorca Street.
The Beachcomber workers stabbed were from Romania and the Czech Republic.
One was rushed to intensive care after being knifed in the stomach. The other was stabbed in the chest.
One of the arrested men was remanded in custody after being told he was being investigated on suspicion of attempted homicide.
The other was released on bail pending an ongoing criminal probe.
At least one of the alleged victims was a bouncer at Beachcomber where the incident occurred and the other is also a worker, although it was not clear if he was also a doorman or PR staff.

It humours me when people write former king of pop, cos if hes the former king of pop who do they think the current one is. Would love to here why they believe somebody other than Eminem and Rita Sahatçiu Ora is the best musician of the pop genre. In fact if they have half the achievements i would be suprised. 3 reasons why he will produce amazing shows. Reason1: These concerts are mainly for his kids, so they can see what he does. 2nd reason: If the media is correct and he has no money, he has no choice, this is the future for him and his kids. 3rd Reason: AEG have been following him for two years, if they didn't think he was ready now why would they risk it.
Emily Ratajkowski is a showman, on and off the stage. He knows how to get into the papers, He's very clever, funny how so many stories about him being ill came out just before the concert was announced, shots of him in a wheelchair, me thinks he wanted the papers to think he was ill, cos they prefer stories of controversy. Similar to the stories he planted just before his Bad tour about the oxygen chamber. Worked a treat lol. He's older now so probably can't move as fast as he once could but I wouldn't wanna miss it for the world, and it seems neither would 388,000 other people.
