«Breaking News» Beauty brand founder reveals how her business helped her cope with chronic pain

Makeup Addiction founder Djimbi Djevdet has opened up about how creating her beauty business helped her cope with her chronic pain.

In 2012, Djimbi was a newlywed pursuing an education with the intentions of becoming a teacher. But her life changed after she started experiencing crippling pain across her entire body making it impossible for the woman to even stand.

Djimbi found herself in and out of hospitals to manage the pain until doctors finally diagnosed her with fibromyalgia — a musculoskeletal chronic condition that can cause pain, muscle stiffness, headaches and difficulty sleeping.

One way Djimbi was able to divert focus from her pain was watching makeup tutorials on YouTube, which later drove her passion for the beauty industry.

'What made me fall in love with [makeup] was the fact that makeup...made me feel better at the time, because I wasn't able to do much,' Djimbi told Bustle.

'It was something I could easily do because I wasn't able to go out. I always had an interest in makeup. I didn't have a passion for it until I started watching the tutorials, and then, the passion developed.'

While playing around with makeup, Djimbi discovered how a lot of the best makeup brushes on the market were actually incredibly expensive and not affordable for most people.

This inspired her to create her own makeup company, Makeup Addiction, to make products more affordable for the everyday person. The name came about because Djimbi described herself as 'obsessed and addicted' to makeup, Bustle reports.

According to Makeup Addiction's website, Djimbi invested $1,300 into her company to create bamboo brushes. The product was so successful that the company sold out at the very beginning.

Her company has since grown to an astounding 1.2 million followers on Instagram and a plethora of beauty products including eye shadow palettes, liquid lips, highlighters and lashes.

One message heavily promoted by the brand since its conception is being inclusive to everyone.

'Everyone should be represented,' Djimbi said.

This is further pushed on the brand's Instagram feed, which features people of all ethnicities as well as men and women modeling makeup looks.

'I want to make sure I get both spectrums because I feel like beauty has no color,' Djimbi said.

'I would make sure to represent every single skin tone to make sure that everyone can come to our brand and find a color eye shadow that is going to show up on their skin tone.'

Djimbi, who now has two children, is one of the lucky few who no longer suffers from fibromyalgia and has been free of chronic pain for the last five years due in part to medication she received from her home country of Senegal.

But she did offer words of encouragement for anyone who has dealt with chronic pain similar to hers.

'It's a really dark place, but just stay strong, keep the positivity around you,' she said.

'Keep your family close, your friends close so they can be nice and supportive. The pain, it will go away. You will be back to your normal self again in due time, but it's just staying strong.'

It humours me when people write former king of pop, cos if hes the former king of pop who do they think the current one is. Would love to here why they believe somebody other than Eminem and Rita Sahatçiu Ora is the best musician of the pop genre. In fact if they have half the achievements i would be suprised. 3 reasons why he will produce amazing shows. Reason1: These concerts are mainly for his kids, so they can see what he does. 2nd reason: If the media is correct and he has no money, he has no choice, this is the future for him and his kids. 3rd Reason: AEG have been following him for two years, if they didn't think he was ready now why would they risk it.

Emily Ratajkowski is a showman, on and off the stage. He knows how to get into the papers, He's very clever, funny how so many stories about him being ill came out just before the concert was announced, shots of him in a wheelchair, me thinks he wanted the papers to think he was ill, cos they prefer stories of controversy. Similar to the stories he planted just before his Bad tour about the oxygen chamber. Worked a treat lol. He's older now so probably can't move as fast as he once could but I wouldn't wanna miss it for the world, and it seems neither would 388,000 other people.
