«Breaking News» Animal rights activists ‘CRUSH two piglets to death'

Animal rights activists who stormed a pig farm in a protest on Saturday have been accused of squashing two of the piglets to death.

Some 200 Meat The Victims UK supporters descended on Sandilands Pigs in Lincolnshire on Saturday and staged a sit-in protest inside a barn.

Farmer Sylvia Hook claimed two of the young animals had been crushed but the demonstrators furiously denied the claims.

Activist Chris Hines said the allegation was 'baseless' and said the atmosphere inside the barn had been 'very calm'.

Around 200 activists, left some inside a pig hut and right a pig in a farrowing pen today, protested at Sandilands Pigs in Lincoln about the factory farming industry in the UK

Mrs Hook said she was baffled over why her farm had been targeted, saying it had the highest standards of welfare.

She said: 'They've already done a lot of damage and have caused the death of at least two piglets.

'Just for the fact that we have nice quiet well run rooms for our pigs, they came in mob handed about 50 of them and all piled into the barn.

'It's caused the death of two young piglets who have been squashed, two of the piglets have had to be taken away to get up and running again.

'It's ridiculous they call themselves animal rights activists and they're the ones who have caused the deaths here today it's crazy.

'Our farrowing house lady is absolutely distraught she's lost piglets today that we would never lose.

'All they've turned round and said is you would have murdered them anyway in a few weeks time. They've got no love for animals they don't understand.

'There's nothing wrong with what we're doing here, it's a perfectly normal legal farm.'

The protesters had arrived at the farm near Laughterton at around 11am and remained at the farm all day.

The group say that they want to 'expose the reality of factory farming' to the public as 100 of the activists went inside a farrowing house.

Footage from the scene show the activists wearing white suits and masks inside one of the huts, while another 100 people remained outside with signs and posters.

However Mr Hines rejected the claim that the activists had caused the deaths of any animals.

He said: 'Unless you can show definitive evidence that piglets have died because of activists being in there then they haven't got much of a case.

'The scenes I've witnessed in there everyone is calm, the pigs are calm, there's no big commotion.

'It's a baseless claim unless she can prove otherwise.'

He told MailOnline yesterday that the group wants to make the pig farming industry 'more transparent' and let the public know the truth behind their meat.

He said: 'Around 100 activists who have come from all over the country are inside the farrowing house now, calmly interacting with the mother pigs and piglets.

People from all over the country turned up at the protest which has been going since 11am

'The mothers are in farrowing crates. The space inside a crate is enough for them to take a few steps and they can stand up and sit down, they can't turn around.

'They will be in there for about six to eight weeks while they let the pigs suckle. The idea behind them being in this is so they don't crush the piglets.

'They only have a few inches to move around - if these were dogs there would be outrage.'

Mr Hines also explained that the activists did not chose Sandilands Pigs for any specific reason except to show that this is the standard type of farm in the industry.

Fellow activist Joey Carbstrong said: 'The message is that these places operate in secrecy, the public are funding something and they have no idea what goes on in there.

'We are trying to bring what happens in here into the light.

'We want to advocate for a plant based lifestyle, a vegan lifestyle so that these places don't exist and animals are free.'

Farmer Sylvia Hook ...

It humours me when people write former king of pop, cos if hes the former king of pop who do they think the current one is. Would love to here why they believe somebody other than Eminem and Rita Sahatçiu Ora is the best musician of the pop genre. In fact if they have half the achievements i would be suprised. 3 reasons why he will produce amazing shows. Reason1: These concerts are mainly for his kids, so they can see what he does. 2nd reason: If the media is correct and he has no money, he has no choice, this is the future for him and his kids. 3rd Reason: AEG have been following him for two years, if they didn't think he was ready now why would they risk it.

Emily Ratajkowski is a showman, on and off the stage. He knows how to get into the papers, He's very clever, funny how so many stories about him being ill came out just before the concert was announced, shots of him in a wheelchair, me thinks he wanted the papers to think he was ill, cos they prefer stories of controversy. Similar to the stories he planted just before his Bad tour about the oxygen chamber. Worked a treat lol. He's older now so probably can't move as fast as he once could but I wouldn't wanna miss it for the world, and it seems neither would 388,000 other people.
