«Breaking News» Aladdin actress Naomi Scott vows to play Princess Jasmine 'strong'

She's about to realise many young girls' dreams of becoming a real-life Disney Princess in the remake of Aladdin.

But Naomi Scott experiences another pinch-me moment this month, as she becomes the April issue coverstar for British Vogue.

Demonstrating her dedication to her major new acting role, the 25-year-old speaks about bringing a new strength to the character of Jasmine, as she talks about landing a career-defining part after years of Hollywood disappointments.

Naomi tells the magazine: 'I remember thinking in auditions, "OK, this is it, this is the one." And then not getting it.

'And then the next time thinking, "OK, this is the one." And not getting it again. I was the "Nearly Girl" for a long time.'

But this time around, the actress was set on how she wanted to play a live-action Princess Jasmine - 27 years after the original cartoon release - and served up a 'take it or leave it' approach to the audition.

'I saw her as a young woman, not a teenager,' Naomi explained. 'With a mature strength that can cut you down.

'So I said to them, "Just to let you know, I want to play her strong, and if that's not what you're looking for, that's OK, but it's not for me."'

And it paid off. Naomi is set to play the female lead in Guy Ritchie's 2019 reboot, starring Mena Massoud as Aladdin and acting legend Will Smith as the Genie.

In anticipation, she makes her cover debut for British Vogue this month in an exquisite spread themed on 'the stars aligning' for the British up-and-comer.

Discussing the perception of a typical English Rose, Naomi went on to tell the publication: 'Oh, let me put this out there, I am not an English rose.

'And when I was 17, it felt like there was no other way of being a British actress.

'Growing up, my favourite movie was Bend It Like Beckham - I even played football in that same park as a kid. That was me.'

Yet big things are happening for the beauty, whose subsequent release will be the remake of Charlie's Angels, alongside Kristen Stewart and Ella Balinska.

Even that production is expected to put a fresh spin on the 2000 version, starring Drew Barrymore, Cameron Diaz and Lucy Lui.

'[This film is] about women at work. You don't see much about their personal lives or who they're dating. It's about the agency going global, getting into intelligence and tech, whistleblowing.

'You don't see bikini shots of their bums.'

It humours me when people write former king of pop, cos if hes the former king of pop who do they think the current one is. Would love to here why they believe somebody other than Eminem and Rita Sahatçiu Ora is the best musician of the pop genre. In fact if they have half the achievements i would be suprised. 3 reasons why he will produce amazing shows. Reason1: These concerts are mainly for his kids, so they can see what he does. 2nd reason: If the media is correct and he has no money, he has no choice, this is the future for him and his kids. 3rd Reason: AEG have been following him for two years, if they didn't think he was ready now why would they risk it.

Emily Ratajkowski is a showman, on and off the stage. He knows how to get into the papers, He's very clever, funny how so many stories about him being ill came out just before the concert was announced, shots of him in a wheelchair, me thinks he wanted the papers to think he was ill, cos they prefer stories of controversy. Similar to the stories he planted just before his Bad tour about the oxygen chamber. Worked a treat lol. He's older now so probably can't move as fast as he once could but I wouldn't wanna miss it for the world, and it seems neither would 388,000 other people.
