«Breaking News» Aidan Gillen snaps back at Lorraine for calling his partner Camille O'Sullivan his 'fiancée'

He's known for his role as the malevolent Petyr Baelish, aka Littlefinger, in HBO's hit show Game Of Thrones.

And Aidan Gillen was put through quite the awkward interview while on Thursday's edition of Lorraine, as he snapped back at her when she called his partner Camille O'Sullivan his 'fiancée'.

The host, 59, asked the actor, 50, if he was looking to start a career in singing, as she said: 'So you're taking on a new role, you’re singing with your fiancée?'

But the Peaky Blinders star was quick to clap back, as he responded: 'She's not my fiancée, she's my partner…I'm not looking at a career in music.'

Left aghast by the faux-pas, Lorraine apologised to him as he said it was 'all good', before she then joked: 'So sorry Aidan, keep me in the loop next time!'

After the exchange, viewers took to Twitter to discuss how awkward it was to watch the interview, with some even hitting out at both Lorraine and her guest.

One person blasted Lorraine's attempt to laugh it off, as they said: 'Lorraine. It wasn't that funny. You said they was engaged and they wasn't. F****** hell get over it. (sic)'

Another criticised the Irish actor, as they wrote: 'Aidan Gillen is possibly one of the most awkward interviews I've ever seen. His PR needs to do some SERIOUS media training, or just not book him for TV interviews. I'm cringing.'

While one concurred: '#AidanGillen was a total p**** to @reallorraine there. She only said Fiance FFS. he looked at her like theyre actually days as from a breakup (sic).'

One viewer simple wrote: 'Wow that was an awkward interview #Lorraine'

But, despite the awkwardness, Aidan was keen to talk about his new Syfy drama Project Blue Book, which centres around the emergence of the UFO phenomenon in the early 50s in the USA.

Discussing his opinion on the idea of extraterrestrial life, Aidan said: 'Well I'm open minded. I’d be very surprised if we were alone in the universe.

'Having done research, there’s a certain number of cases here which are very credible. Let's just say yes!'

Lorraine joked that his mother must be happy that he's playing a 'good' character, after making a name for himself around the globe as Littlefinger.

The Wire star said: 'I always try and find the light in those characters. My mother took me aside and said I have to play some warm characters in [my] career. I hope she's okay with this one!'

And Aidan went on to reveal that the US remake of his hit show Queer As Folk is 'pretty far down the road' but that he doesn't think there would be another version of the show in the UK, 20 years on from the original series.

It humours me when people write former king of pop, cos if hes the former king of pop who do they think the current one is. Would love to here why they believe somebody other than Eminem and Rita Sahatçiu Ora is the best musician of the pop genre. In fact if they have half the achievements i would be suprised. 3 reasons why he will produce amazing shows. Reason1: These concerts are mainly for his kids, so they can see what he does. 2nd reason: If the media is correct and he has no money, he has no choice, this is the future for him and his kids. 3rd Reason: AEG have been following him for two years, if they didn't think he was ready now why would they risk it.

Emily Ratajkowski is a showman, on and off the stage. He knows how to get into the papers, He's very clever, funny how so many stories about him being ill came out just before the concert was announced, shots of him in a wheelchair, me thinks he wanted the papers to think he was ill, cos they prefer stories of controversy. Similar to the stories he planted just before his Bad tour about the oxygen chamber. Worked a treat lol. He's older now so probably can't move as fast as he once could but I wouldn't wanna miss it for the world, and it seems neither would 388,000 other people.
