«Breaking News» Zac Efron runs errands without a crutch for first time since undergoing surgery for a torn ACL

He let his fans know in early February that he was having surgery for a torn ACL.

And on Tuesday, Zac Efron looked to be well on the road to recovery as he ran errands in Los Angeles.

The actor, 31, who has been undergoing physical therapy, was dressed in gym wear and carried a large backpack.

The High School Musical alum wore a black hoodie pulled up over a black baseball cap and sported sunglasses.

He had on gray athletic shorts with red and white ankle socks and bright red trainers.

The bearded star chatted away on his phone as he walked. 

Tuesday was the first time Efron has been seen without a crutch or walking aid since his injury sustained during a trip to the Mammoth ski resort outside Los Angeles.

Injured: On February 8, Efron shared pics of himself with his damaged knee, explaining: 'I tore my ACL shredding the gnar but all is good. I opted for surgery so I can come back stronger than ever' 

Earlier this month Zac gave his follower a peek into his physical therapy routine on Instagram.

Posting a positive message along with a photo of him flexing his knee, he wrote: 'Better every day. Taking it literally, 1 step at a time.... thx for support everyone.'

On February 8, he shared pics of himself with his damaged knee to his Instagram and Twitter.

'I tore my ACL shredding the gnar but all is good.' he explained. 'I opted for surgery so I can come back stronger than ever.'

'I’ll keep you updated as I heal and progress! Thanks for all the love and positivity!' 

On March 5, he followed up with another post in which he's seen doing physical therapy and wrote: 'Better every day. Taking it literally, 1 step at a time.... thx for support everyone.'

Efron's new big screen comedy The Beach Bum, in which he stars with Matthew McConaughey, opens in theatres on Friday.

In May, his turn as serial killer Ted Bundy in Extremely Wicked, Shockingly Evil, and Vile comes out.

Efron has also signed on to provide the voice for Fred in a new Scooby-Doo animated movie titled Scoob.

He joins Amanda Seyfried as Daphne, Will Forte as Shaggy and Gina Rodriguez as Velma, while Frank Welker, who voiced Scooby-Doo in the original cartoons, returning to voice the snacks-loving pup.

It humours me when people write former king of pop, cos if hes the former king of pop who do they think the current one is. Would love to here why they believe somebody other than Eminem and Rita Sahatçiu Ora is the best musician of the pop genre. In fact if they have half the achievements i would be suprised. 3 reasons why he will produce amazing shows. Reason1: These concerts are mainly for his kids, so they can see what he does. 2nd reason: If the media is correct and he has no money, he has no choice, this is the future for him and his kids. 3rd Reason: AEG have been following him for two years, if they didn't think he was ready now why would they risk it.

Emily Ratajkowski is a showman, on and off the stage. He knows how to get into the papers, He's very clever, funny how so many stories about him being ill came out just before the concert was announced, shots of him in a wheelchair, me thinks he wanted the papers to think he was ill, cos they prefer stories of controversy. Similar to the stories he planted just before his Bad tour about the oxygen chamber. Worked a treat lol. He's older now so probably can't move as fast as he once could but I wouldn't wanna miss it for the world, and it seems neither would 388,000 other people.
