«Breaking News» Uber driver who was trying to earn money for daughter's birthday shot and robbed by two passengers

An Uber driver is in a coma after he was shot and robbed while trying to earn extra money for his eight-year-old daughter's birthday. 

Police say Kim Troy Williams was shot twice in the abdomen at around 8.20am Thursday in San Antonio, Texas, after he had picked up two passengers who paid with a gift card.  

The suspects sped away in Williams' 2015 Mitsubishi Outlander, taking his wallet, cellphone and laptop with them.  

One of the suspects, 18-year-old Jesus Luna was arrested Friday night near where Williams' vehicle was recovered, SAPD spokeswoman Jennifer Rodriguez said. 

He has been charged with aggravated robbery, but investigators have not revealed details about his alleged role in the incident.

Luna denied any involvement as he was led out of the police station to a squad car in handcuffs on Friday night, according to MySanAntonio.com. 

When asked if he had any regrets about his arrest, Luna replied: 'Yes, everything.' 

Rodriguez said detectives are working to identify a second suspect in the shooting and asked anyone with information to contact authorities.

Williams' sister-in-law, Amy Keslar Williams, said her brother-in-law works at a T.J. Maxx distribution warehouse and started driving for Uber so he could earn a little extra money for his daughter's ninth birthday party.   

She said Williams was never afraid to pick up people at certain parts of town and that the two passengers who robbed him were strangers to the family. 

After he was shot, Williams managed to make it to a nearby tire shop to call for help. Paramedics arrived and took him by ambulance to San Antonio Military Medical Center. 

He reportedly gave police a description of one of the suspects before undergoing four extensive surgeries. 

Amy Williams said he will likely need at least two more surgeries to repair the damage the bullets caused to his small intestine, liver, stomach and lungs. 

Williams is now in a medically-induced coma after undergoing four extensive surgeries. A GoFundMe campaign set up to cover his medical expenses and to support his eight-year-old daughter and wife has raised more than $8,500 as of Sunday morning 

Williams is currently in a medically-induced coma, and his family members have made sure to have at least one person by his bedside at all times.  

'It's a tough situation, we're dealing as best as we can,' his sister-in-law told MySanAntonio.com. 

'Everybody's been around 24 hours. We're a close-knit family, real tight-knit.' 

A GoFundMe campaign has been set up to cover Williams' medical expenses and to support his eight-year-old daughter and wife now that he won't be able to work for an undetermined amount of time. 

The campaign description says: 'Kim is the most gentle soul you could imagine and has never uttered a bad word about one person. This has left the family distraught, angry and filled with questions. Anything you can give to help would be greatly appreciated.' 

More than $8,500 has been raised by 208 donors as of Sunday morning.

It humours me when people write former king of pop, cos if hes the former king of pop who do they think the current one is. Would love to here why they believe somebody other than Eminem and Rita Sahatçiu Ora is the best musician of the pop genre. In fact if they have half the achievements i would be suprised. 3 reasons why he will produce amazing shows. Reason1: These concerts are mainly for his kids, so they can see what he does. 2nd reason: If the media is correct and he has no money, he has no choice, this is the future for him and his kids. 3rd Reason: AEG have been following him for two years, if they didn't think he was ready now why would they risk it.

Emily Ratajkowski is a showman, on and off the stage. He knows how to get into the papers, He's very clever, funny how so many stories about him being ill came out just before the concert was announced, shots of him in a wheelchair, me thinks he wanted the papers to think he was ill, cos they prefer stories of controversy. Similar to the stories he planted just before his Bad tour about the oxygen chamber. Worked a treat lol. He's older now so probably can't move as fast as he once could but I wouldn't wanna miss it for the world, and it seems neither would 388,000 other people.
