«Breaking News» R Kelly's lawyer and Michael Avenatti in war on words on Twitter

R Kelly's attorney and Michael Avenatti have engaged in a war of words on Twitter, trading insults from opposing sides of the singer's criminal sexual abuse case.

The drama flared after Avenatti claimed to have video evidence of Kelly engaging in sex acts with a 14-year-old girl, leading to the singer's arrest on February 22 in Chicago.

'He has a Ferrari and I have a Maserati. Maybe that's why I am not up to his standards!' Kelly's attorney Steve Greenberg told the Chicago Sun-Times on Saturday, shrugging off the dispute.

In fact, Avenatti gave up his leased 2017 Ferrari 488 GT Spider in a divorce settlement last year, according to court filings.

Greenberg appears to have fired the opening salvo in the feud when he addressed reporters after accompanying Kelly to surrender for arrest last month.

'I haven't seen Avenatti's tape,' Greenberg said. 'I wonder why [prosecutor] Kim Foxx isn't investigating him for disseminating child porn and watching child porn, which I'm sure he's done many times.'

Avenatti blasted back minutes later on Twitter: 'Steve Greenberg is exactly what R Kelly deserves. Happy to be living rent free in this guy's head.'

'I used to think it was fun to bat around Michael Cohen and David Schwartz. And then I met Steve Greenberg. Now THIS will be fun,' Avenatti continued.

The following day, Avenatti laid into Greenberg again, responding to his claim that Kelly was being improperly prosecuted for the same sex crimes he was acquitted of in 2008, in a trial sparked by another sex tape.

'Can someone explain to Steve Greenberg how double jeopardy actually works in criminal law, before he embarrasses himself further. Pls explain to him that it has to be the exact same act/instance previously charged and usually also must include the exact same statute,' Avenatti wrote, adding the hashtag #AmateurHour.

Avenatti kept up the attack after Greenberg suggested that Kelly 'doesn't have to' force anyone to have sex because 'he is a rock star.'

'Memo to Steve Greenberg, who earlier today stated that R. Kelly may have had 'consensual sex' with the underage girls identified in the indictment: 14, 15, and 16 yr old girls cannot legally 'consent' in Illinois. Meaning its sexual assault/rape. Who is this guy?

Greenberg fired back: 'Memo to #MichaelAvenatti who blocked me but continues to insult me like a coward. I know exactly what the law is in Illinois about consent and double jeopardy. I also know how to make my point without insulting somebody.'

'Have a nice flight back to wherever you came from. Bye,' Greenberg added.

On Febrary 25, Avenatti blasted Greenberg for appearing to take cell phone pictures as during Kelly's bail hearing.

'Nothing says 'I'm a professional and not grandstanding' like taking selfies with the press moments before the bail hearing for your client, who is facing life in prison. #ClownShow,' Avenatti wrote.

Greenberg responded by calling Avenatti a 'coward who blocked me then criticized me' and 'a self promoting whatever.'

Things weren't always so tense between the two lawyers, however.

In May, Greenberg tweeted out: 'We should find a case to try together. I love watching you work. @MichaelAvenatti.'

Avenatti told the Sun-Times he has no recollection of seeing the Greenberg's Twitter 'love' note last year.

Robert Sylvester Kelly, 52, is currently free on $100,000 bond. He has pleaded not guilty to ten counts of aggravated criminal sexual abuse.

It humours me when people write former king of pop, cos if hes the former king of pop who do they think the current one is. Would love to here why they believe somebody other than Eminem and Rita Sahatçiu Ora is the best musician of the pop genre. In fact if they have half the achievements i would be suprised. 3 reasons why he will produce amazing shows. Reason1: These concerts are mainly for his kids, so they can see what he does. 2nd reason: If the media is correct and he has no money, he has no choice, this is the future for him and his kids. 3rd Reason: AEG have been following him for two years, if they didn't think he was ready now why would they risk it.

Emily Ratajkowski is a showman, on and off the stage. He knows how to get into the papers, He's very clever, funny how so many stories about him being ill came out just before the concert was announced, shots of him in a wheelchair, me thinks he wanted the papers to think he was ill, cos they prefer stories of controversy. Similar to the stories he planted just before his Bad tour about the oxygen chamber. Worked a treat lol. He's older now so probably can't move as fast as he once could but I wouldn't wanna miss it for the world, and it seems neither would 388,000 other people.
