«Breaking News» Parkland high school principal is reassigned amid investigation into mass shooting

Ty Thompson was reassigned on Wednesday. A commission's report in January found he was 'disengaged' with his school's way of assessing threatening students before the shooting 

The principal of Stoneman Douglas High School, where 17 people were slaughtered in a mass shooting last year, has been reassigned amid an ongoing investigation into whether teachers could have prevented the killings. 

Ty Thompson was reassigned on Wednesday while the probe into the school, in Parkland,  Florida, continues. 

In January, a commission report found that he was 'disengaged' with the school's threat assessment process and was unaware that shooter Nikolas Cruz's behavior was of concern. 

Three other school employees who were in the school on the day of the shooting have also been reassigned. 

They are accused of not calling a code red soon enough once Cruz started shooting. The first one came in three minutes after the first shots were fired. 

The commission's report skewers Thompson specifically for not being more aware of their dealings with Cruz in the years and months prior to the shooting.

The three other teachers formed what is known as a threat assessment team. It is their job to assess a student's behavior if it is brought to them before it turns violent. 

In Cruz's case, this was done in 2016 and he was interviewed several times.

Gunman Nikolas Cruz had been reported to school staff for threatening behavior. He was thrown out of school months before the incident but was somehow able to get onto campus with an AR-15 on the day of the murders 

He was also banned from bringing a backpack to school but Thompson was not involved in the process. 

The report reads: 'MSDHS Principal Ty Thompson stated that he does not review TAT results. When asked if he expects his administrators to inform him if “someone threatens to shoot up the school,” Thompson replied, “Usually it’s not. Very rarely does that come up. Threat assessments don’t always—it’s not part of the protocol to bring it to me.” 

'Thompson further stated, “To be honest with you, no, I’m not made aware of all threat assessments that come in.”

'Thompson could only guess at the number of threat assessments initiated at MSDHS annually and really had no idea of the process .' 

Among the things its team of lawyers are investigating is whether the school gates were secured when Cruz entered and exited the campus and if proper procedures were followed. 

Former Deputy Scot Peterson has been labeled a coward for not running into the school. He has moved away from Florida 

The teachers have pushed back angrily and say they are being blamed unfairly. 

Thomspon has not commented on his reassignment and it remains unclear what exactly he could have done to stop the shooting. 

He was not on campus on the day of the shooting but the commission report by a found that he was 'disengaged from the threat assessment process at MSDHS, and he failed to establish reporting procedures that would ensure he was knowledgeable about threats on campus.' 

Among the recommendations contained in the commission report was one which told the district to investigate 'whether Principal Ty Thompson’s disengagement from the threat assessment process and failure to ensure he was knowledgeable about threats on campus violated District policy.' 

Students told investigators that they thought Cruz was 'suicidal' and that they believed he enjoyed watching people in 'pain'.

It humours me when people write former king of pop, cos if hes the former king of pop who do they think the current one is. Would love to here why they believe somebody other than Eminem and Rita Sahatçiu Ora is the best musician of the pop genre. In fact if they have half the achievements i would be suprised. 3 reasons why he will produce amazing shows. Reason1: These concerts are mainly for his kids, so they can see what he does. 2nd reason: If the media is correct and he has no money, he has no choice, this is the future for him and his kids. 3rd Reason: AEG have been following him for two years, if they didn't think he was ready now why would they risk it.

Emily Ratajkowski is a showman, on and off the stage. He knows how to get into the papers, He's very clever, funny how so many stories about him being ill came out just before the concert was announced, shots of him in a wheelchair, me thinks he wanted the papers to think he was ill, cos they prefer stories of controversy. Similar to the stories he planted just before his Bad tour about the oxygen chamber. Worked a treat lol. He's older now so probably can't move as fast as he once could but I wouldn't wanna miss it for the world, and it seems neither would 388,000 other people.
