«Breaking News» Mother was fed-up 'blue' cabinet didn't match her furniture... only to discover it's actually GREY

A mother who spent three years frustrated that her blue cabinet didn't match the rest of her furniture was shocked to discover that the blue was actually a layer of protective film she hadn't hadn't peeled off - and her three drawer unit was grey all along.

Kayleigh Greer, 35, bought the £150 cabinet from B&Q in summer 2016 to act as a TV stand in her and her husband Darren Greer's bedroom.

The mother-of-three, from Stevenage, Hertfordshire said she had asked the store if it had any other colours but was forced to buy the blue cabinet, as it was the only one in stock - despite it not matching their grey and silver bedroom.

The couple noticed some protective tape along the top of each drawer but decided to leave it in place.

However, last weekend Kayleigh was doing a deep clean of the house and decided to remove the tape.

Kayleigh, a national sales manager, started to peel the tape away and it came off with the blue plastic film that had been over the entire chest of drawers.

While the revelation came as a bit of a shock, Kayleigh says it's like they've got a brand new unit 'without spending a penny' - which now matches their other furniture.

Kayleigh said: 'I never had any suspicions the blue colour was a protective film.

'I knew there was white tape along the top of each draw which I thought was protection and would eventually need pulling off.

Kayleigh, 35, and her husband Darren, 48, were frustrated with the blue cabinet but said they had to buy it as it was the only colour in B&Q

'Then I as deep cleaning the bedroom the other day and I was down near the cabinet vacuuming and I thought 'while I'm down here, I may as well finally peel off the tape'.

'But as I started to peel, I noticed the blue film had lifted and I panicked and thought I had ruined unit.

'But I just kept peeling and it kept coming off. Underneath it was a really nice grey. It looks amazing.

'I bought the cabinet in mid-2016 and the actual cabinet they had on display was the same blue colour.

'I asked if they did it in another colour and they said no. I didn't really want a blue cabinet but I thought it was the closest to our bedroom that I'd seen.

'The bedroom is grey and silver so the cabinet actually matches it better now. It's like we've got a brand new piece of furniture and we haven't spent a penny.'

As she peeled back the blue plastic, she went to show her husband Darren who was equally shocked at what she discovered

After peeling the film off the entire unit, Kayleigh went downstairs with the blue plastic heaped in her arms - much to the shock of Darren, 48.

The father, who had been looking after their boys Taylor, eight, Greyson, 17 months, and Felix, 16 weeks, rushed upstairs to see what Kayleigh had done but was also pleasantly surprised.

Kayleigh said: 'Darren was downstairs with the kids and I came down with all this blue film scrunched up in my arms.

'He asked me where it had come from and when I told him it had come from the cabinet he burst out laughing before rushing upstairs to see what I'd done.

'He thinks it's amazing. He prefers the cabinet now to before.'

Kayleigh Gr...

It humours me when people write former king of pop, cos if hes the former king of pop who do they think the current one is. Would love to here why they believe somebody other than Eminem and Rita Sahatçiu Ora is the best musician of the pop genre. In fact if they have half the achievements i would be suprised. 3 reasons why he will produce amazing shows. Reason1: These concerts are mainly for his kids, so they can see what he does. 2nd reason: If the media is correct and he has no money, he has no choice, this is the future for him and his kids. 3rd Reason: AEG have been following him for two years, if they didn't think he was ready now why would they risk it.

Emily Ratajkowski is a showman, on and off the stage. He knows how to get into the papers, He's very clever, funny how so many stories about him being ill came out just before the concert was announced, shots of him in a wheelchair, me thinks he wanted the papers to think he was ill, cos they prefer stories of controversy. Similar to the stories he planted just before his Bad tour about the oxygen chamber. Worked a treat lol. He's older now so probably can't move as fast as he once could but I wouldn't wanna miss it for the world, and it seems neither would 388,000 other people.
