«Breaking News» Kym Marsh reveals she quit Corrie after 13 years to spend time with her soon-to-be born grandson

She confirmed she would be quitting Coronation Street after 13 years on the show. 

And Kym Marsh told OK! Magazine that an important factor in her leaving the soap is the impending arrival of her first grandchild later this year.

The actress, 42, who announced her daughter Emilie, 21, was expecting her first child in December explained further in her latest column for the magazine:

‘Another big factor in my decision to take a break from Corrie is the impending arrival of my grandson. I’m looking forward to having more time to spend with him and Emilie after he’s born this summer’.

And Kym went on to reveal what prompted her to make her decision: 'I’ve loved every minute of working there and I’ve made some great friends at work but now feels like the right time for me to take a break and spread my wings.'

She went on to admit that she had no plans to appear in any reality shows:

'There were reports that I was going to appear in the next series of Strictly or I’m A Celeb… As wonderful as those shows are, I’m not leaving Corrie after thirteen years to do reality TV'.

Last month Kym has revealed she is banning her pregnant daughter's unborn child from calling her granny, nanny or grandma.

Speaking alongside her daughter on the show, the pop star turned actress said: 'I can't... no way I'm being a grandmother or granny or nanny. We looked up names on the internet. I'm going to be Lolly.'

Announcing the news in OK! Magazine in November, Kym spoke about her own experiences of being a young mother after she gave birth at 18.

 She said: 'Being a young mum seems to be a pattern in my family. My mum was 18 when she had my brother, my sister was 18 when she fell pregnant and so was I.

'I've warned her that it's going to be hard work, but I've also said that there are a lot of positives to being a young mum, too. 

'There were times when I struggled because your life changes so much when you have a child especially when you are young, but I wouldn't change what I have now for the world. Me, Emilie and David are best friends and I think that's because there isn't a huge age gap between us.'

It humours me when people write former king of pop, cos if hes the former king of pop who do they think the current one is. Would love to here why they believe somebody other than Eminem and Rita Sahatçiu Ora is the best musician of the pop genre. In fact if they have half the achievements i would be suprised. 3 reasons why he will produce amazing shows. Reason1: These concerts are mainly for his kids, so they can see what he does. 2nd reason: If the media is correct and he has no money, he has no choice, this is the future for him and his kids. 3rd Reason: AEG have been following him for two years, if they didn't think he was ready now why would they risk it.

Emily Ratajkowski is a showman, on and off the stage. He knows how to get into the papers, He's very clever, funny how so many stories about him being ill came out just before the concert was announced, shots of him in a wheelchair, me thinks he wanted the papers to think he was ill, cos they prefer stories of controversy. Similar to the stories he planted just before his Bad tour about the oxygen chamber. Worked a treat lol. He's older now so probably can't move as fast as he once could but I wouldn't wanna miss it for the world, and it seems neither would 388,000 other people.
