«Breaking News» Kate Middleton visits the Foundling Museum in London

The Duchess of Cambridge busy day of engagements continues with a visit to the Foundling Museum in London.

Kate, 37, appeared in good spirits as she arrived at the museum, which explores the history of the Foundling Hospital, the UK's first children's charity and first public art gallery. The outing comes hours after Kate was announced as the charity's patron.

Earlier the Duchess joined the Queen, 92, for a joint outing to King's College London, where the monarch re-opened Bush House.

This afternoon the Duchess kept on the same grey Catherine Walker coat she wore out with the Queen, but ditched her hat to give the outfit a more informal feel.

Catherine Walker is a go-to for the Duchess of Cambridge on big occasions, so it was no surprise she turned to the London-based label to dress her for a rare joint engagement with the Queen in London today.

The fit and flare shape of this grey coat dress is classic Kate, and we love the contrast collar. The buckled belt shows off her figure perfectly, and when teamed with black tights, her new favourite Gianvito Rossi block heels and a Mulberry clutch bag, it's a very sophisticated look.

It's a new addition to Kate's wardrobe, and it looks like it was made just for her, but click (right) to find out more about Catherine Walker's designs.

Or go grey in one of the dresses we've rounded up to help you recreate this look. How sweet is the contrast collar on this M&S option?

During the visit Her Royal Highness will meet trainees and graduates of the Foundling Museum's 'Tracing our Tales' programme, which has been developed to equip care-experienced young adults with the skills to devise and deliver workshops at the Museum.

In 2017 The Duchess visited The Foundling Museum and met the first intake of 'Tracing our Tales' trainees; two years later she will meet these young adults again to hear how the programme has helped them gain confidence and employment.

The Duchess has a longstanding interest in both the arts and supporting vulnerable families, and this patronage will further highlight the beneficial impact that art and creativity has on emotional wellbeing.

Larissa Joy, Chair of Trustees – Foundling Museum, said: 'We are delighted and honoured that Her Royal Highness The Duchess of Cambridge has become Patron of the Foundling Museum. We could not imagine a more perfect Patron. We look forward to working with her as we fulfil our mission to inspire people to make positive impact on society through the arts.'

Caro Howell, Director of the Foundling Museum, said: 'The Foundling Museum is thrilled and honoured to receive The Duchess's patronage. Her support is a huge boost to our work transforming the lives of vulnerable young people through the arts.'

Extraordinary history of the Foundling Museum

The Foundling Museum explores the history of the Foundling Hospital, the UK's first children's charity and first public art gallery.

The Foundling Hospital, which continues today as the children's charity Coram, was established in 1739 by the philanthropist Thomas Coram to care for babies at risk of abandonment.

After 17 years of tireless campaigning, Thomas Coram finally received a Royal Charter from King George II in 1739, enabling him to establish his Foundling Hospital.

From 1741 when the first babies were admitted, to 1954 when the last pupil was placed in foster care, the Foundling Hospital cared for and educated around 25,000 children.

Instrumental in helping Coram realise his vision was the artist William Hogarth, who encouraged leading artists of the day to donate work, and George Frideric Handel, who conducted annual benefit concerts in the Hospital's chapel. Their creative generosity set the template for the ways in which the arts can support philanthropy.

Today artists continue to be central to the Foundling Museum's work; through a dynamic programme of exhibitions and events the Museum celebrates the ways in which the arts have helped improve children's lives for over 275 years and aims to inspire everyone to make a positive contribution to society.

The Foundling Museum opened in 2004. The building at 40 Brunswick Square was constructed in the 1930s on the site of the Foundling Hospital, and incorporates many architectural features from the original eighteenth-century building.

The royals have visited on a number of occasions. The Duchess of Cambridge most recently in November 2017.

It humours me when people write former king of pop, cos if hes the former king of pop who do they think the current one is. Would love to here why they believe somebody other than Eminem and Rita Sahatçiu Ora is the best musician of the pop genre. In fact if they have half the achievements i would be suprised. 3 reasons why he will produce amazing shows. Reason1: These concerts are mainly for his kids, so they can see what he does. 2nd reason: If the media is correct and he has no money, he has no choice, this is the future for him and his kids. 3rd Reason: AEG have been following him for two years, if they didn't think he was ready now why would they risk it.

Emily Ratajkowski is a showman, on and off the stage. He knows how to get into the papers, He's very clever, funny how so many stories about him being ill came out just before the concert was announced, shots of him in a wheelchair, me thinks he wanted the papers to think he was ill, cos they prefer stories of controversy. Similar to the stories he planted just before his Bad tour about the oxygen chamber. Worked a treat lol. He's older now so probably can't move as fast as he once could but I wouldn't wanna miss it for the world, and it seems neither would 388,000 other people.
