«Breaking News» Kate Beckinsale leads tributes to her late father Richard on the 40th anniversary of actor's death

Kate Beckinsale has paid tribute to her late father Richard, with a heartbreaking post on Instagram.

The actress, 45, posted photos of her with her dad, who died in 1979 when he was aged only 31.

Kate was just five at the time and alongside the image wrote the emotional caption: '40 years is a lot of missing. Thank you so much to everyone who has been kind. Lots of love xx #march19.'

Richard Beckinsale was one of the stars of classic British sitcoms Porridge and Rising Damp, acting alongside comedy legends Ronnie Barker and Frances de la Tour.

He died in his sleep - survived by Kate, her mother Judy Loe and her older sister Samantha. 

Richard left school at 16 and began working as a bus seat upholsterer but found it so non-stimulating that he once fell asleep on the job. He was consequently fired.

Following this, he worked as a pipe inspector in plumbing, but applied for a RADA scholarship and got in.

His own father, Arthur Beckinsale, recalled: 'I told him it's a very dicey profession. You'll be out of work more than in and you must have a second string to your bow, even if it's hairdressing or something like that.'

Richard married young - 18. He wed Margaret Bradley, who is Samantha's mother, but they divorced in 1971.

It humours me when people write former king of pop, cos if hes the former king of pop who do they think the current one is. Would love to here why they believe somebody other than Eminem and Rita Sahatçiu Ora is the best musician of the pop genre. In fact if they have half the achievements i would be suprised. 3 reasons why he will produce amazing shows. Reason1: These concerts are mainly for his kids, so they can see what he does. 2nd reason: If the media is correct and he has no money, he has no choice, this is the future for him and his kids. 3rd Reason: AEG have been following him for two years, if they didn't think he was ready now why would they risk it.

Emily Ratajkowski is a showman, on and off the stage. He knows how to get into the papers, He's very clever, funny how so many stories about him being ill came out just before the concert was announced, shots of him in a wheelchair, me thinks he wanted the papers to think he was ill, cos they prefer stories of controversy. Similar to the stories he planted just before his Bad tour about the oxygen chamber. Worked a treat lol. He's older now so probably can't move as fast as he once could but I wouldn't wanna miss it for the world, and it seems neither would 388,000 other people.
