«Breaking News» Jordan Peele's new thriller Us breaks horror movie records with a whopping $70.3 million

Us is only the second movie Jordan Peele has directed, but already it's breaking records within the world of horror movies.

After receiving a massive opening weekend with an impressive $7.4 million from Thursday sneak peeks, the terrifying flick has now shattered horror movie records altogether.

With a whopping $70.3 million at the domestic box office, the film is now the title holder for the biggest opening weekend for an original horror movie.

Following the remake of It and 2018's Halloween, Us is also the third best horror opening of all time.

This achievement was done with only a $20 million budget used to make the film.

The $7.4 million Thursday haul Us earned is more than three times the $1.8 million that Get Out made in Thursday sneaks.

His first film was Get Out, which went on to gross $33.4 million during its first weekend and made $176 million total in North America.

Impressive: With just a $20 million budget, Us will easily be profitable within its opening weekend, especially after a strong Thursday showing

Plus, the revolutionary film won the Oscar for Best Original Screenplay in 2017, making Peele the first African American to win the esteemed honor.

Get Out also made the director the first African American to be nominated for producing, writing and directing in the same year.

Joining in the box office was Captain Marvel, which was knocked down to second place with a third weekend total of $35 million, according to THR.

Us is already a hit with critics, scoring an impressive 95 percent rating on Rotten Tomatoes, just below the 98per cent rating for 2017's Get Out.

The film had its world premiere at the South By Southwest Film Festival in Austin, Texas earlier this month, debuting to rave reviews.

It was originally supposed to open on March 15, but it was pushed to March 22 to give it some room from Captain Marvel.

Us follows a family, led by Winston Duke, 32, and Lupita Nyong'o, 36, who are terrorized by a group who looks just like them.

Peele is also keeping busy on the small screen as well, creating, executive producing, and serving as the narrator for a new reboot of The Twilight Zone.

He also will voice the new character Bunny in the highly-anticipated Pixar animated sequel Toy Story 4, which arrives June 21.

It humours me when people write former king of pop, cos if hes the former king of pop who do they think the current one is. Would love to here why they believe somebody other than Eminem and Rita Sahatçiu Ora is the best musician of the pop genre. In fact if they have half the achievements i would be suprised. 3 reasons why he will produce amazing shows. Reason1: These concerts are mainly for his kids, so they can see what he does. 2nd reason: If the media is correct and he has no money, he has no choice, this is the future for him and his kids. 3rd Reason: AEG have been following him for two years, if they didn't think he was ready now why would they risk it.

Emily Ratajkowski is a showman, on and off the stage. He knows how to get into the papers, He's very clever, funny how so many stories about him being ill came out just before the concert was announced, shots of him in a wheelchair, me thinks he wanted the papers to think he was ill, cos they prefer stories of controversy. Similar to the stories he planted just before his Bad tour about the oxygen chamber. Worked a treat lol. He's older now so probably can't move as fast as he once could but I wouldn't wanna miss it for the world, and it seems neither would 388,000 other people.
