Former President Jimmy Carter will become America's longest-living president tomorrow, surpassing George H.W. Bush.

Carter will be 94 years and 172 days old on March 22 - a day older than Bush was when he died last November.

Bush himself became the longest-living president in U.S. history in 2017.

Only a handful of former presidents have lived past 90 years, including former President Ronald Reagan, Carter's successor, who lived to be 93.

'He and Mrs. Carter take walks, and they have followed a healthy diet for a lifetime,' Deanna Congileo, a spokeswoman for the Carter Center, told CNN.

'Both President and Mrs. Carter are both determined to use their influence for as long as they can to make the world a better place, and millions of the world’s poorest people are grateful for their resolve and heart,' she added.

After his presidency, Carter established the Carter Center and was awarded the Nobel Prize. He also built Habitat for Humanity homes and writing more than two dozen books.

The Carter Center, a human rights and anti-poverty organization, said in statement to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution: 'We at the Carter Center sure are rooting for him and are grateful for his long life of service that has benefited millions of the world’s poorest people.'

Carter and his wife Rosalynn have remained active supporters of Habitat for Humanity, the nation's most prominent housing charity, since leaving the White House.

They announced just last year that they planned to join the organization for volunteer work in Nashville later in 2019.

America's founding president, George Washington, was the youngest former president to die -- at 57 years and 67 days -- in April 1789, nearly three years after he left office.

Carter is the son of a Georgia peanut farmer and was 52-years-old when he was elected as the 39th president in 1976.

Both during and after his presidency, he became known as an international human rights champion.

Carter was at the forefront of brokering the Camp David Accords between Israeli Prime Minister Menachem Begin and Egyptian President Anwar Sadat in 1978.

He saw the start of the Iran hostage crisis as well as the first efforts toward developing an energy independence policy.

Carter was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize in 2002 after he created the Carter Center to promote human rights worldwide.

In 2015,  Carter was diagnosed with metastatic melanoma that was detected in his liver and spread to his brain.

About six months after the diagnosis, Carter announced he no longer needed cancer treatment due in part to a groundbreaking medication that trains the immune system to fight cancer tumors.

He was hospitalized two years later for dehydration while building homes with Habitat for Humanity in Canada.

He was back at the work site the next day after he was discharged.

Carter has also traveled the world for elections and worked with the Carter Center to eradicate diseases.

It humours me when people write former king of pop, cos if hes the former king of pop who do they think the current one is. Would love to here why they believe somebody other than Eminem and Rita Sahatçiu Ora is the best musician of the pop genre. In fact if they have half the achievements i would be suprised. 3 reasons why he will produce amazing shows. Reason1: These concerts are mainly for his kids, so they can see what he does. 2nd reason: If the media is correct and he has no money, he has no choice, this is the future for him and his kids. 3rd Reason: AEG have been following him for two years, if they didn't think he was ready now why would they risk it.

Emily Ratajkowski is a showman, on and off the stage. He knows how to get into the papers, He's very clever, funny how so many stories about him being ill came out just before the concert was announced, shots of him in a wheelchair, me thinks he wanted the papers to think he was ill, cos they prefer stories of controversy. Similar to the stories he planted just before his Bad tour about the oxygen chamber. Worked a treat lol. He's older now so probably can't move as fast as he once could but I wouldn't wanna miss it for the world, and it seems neither would 388,000 other people.
