«Breaking News» Eleanor Tomlinson on the 'liberating' end of Poldark

She became a household name thanks to her role as Demelza in Poldark.

But despite being devastated the show has come to an end, Eleanor Tomlinson has described starring opposite Aidan Turner on the BBC drama as a 'springboard' for her career.

The 26-year-old British actress is excited to start the next chapter of her life, jetting off to Los Angeles for pilot season to see if she can make it in Hollywood.

Revealing that she's focusing on the positives about the end of Poldark, she told The Daily Telegraph: 'There were lots of tears; it was very sad, but also exciting.'

Eleanor has come a long way since her first major role in teen rom com Angus, Thongs and Perfect Snogging and is now hoping to capitalise on her success.

The actress has flown out to Los Angeles on the hunt for auditions and says it feels 'liberating' to be trying something new.

While her early experience of the industry saw her crushed by knockbacks and upset by the 'cut-throat' and 'mean' audition process, Eleanor insists she is a different girl these days.

'When I walk into a room, I'm no longer the unknown actress. That's really nice in an industry that's so competitive, to be able to walk in and be seen and not be belittled', she told the paper.

She won't be reinventing her look for Hollywood, however, admitting her flame-haired tresses had become her trademark.

'I've established myself as a redhead now, I could never be quite as strong as a blonde. And who cares if it's not natural?', she said.

Eleanor has already started to carve a name for herself elsewhere, recently impressing with her role in Colette opposite Keira Knightley.

She shared a tribute to co-star Aidan, 35, as well as the cast and crew of Poldark, after filming ended in Bristol in February.

The actress planted a kiss on the actor's cheek while holding his face, as he wrapped an arm around her shoulders and smiled.

Wearing a red dress to transform into her character Demelza, Eleanor gushed about the cast and crew as she expressed her gratitude for working with them on the show.

Eleanor wrote: '"Life is precious and should not be scorned. The thing is to find some purpose, to go on living". Goodbye Poldark.

'Thank you to the incredible cast and crew that have made this series over the last 5 years. What a family we are.'

The 26-year-old British actress is...

It humours me when people write former king of pop, cos if hes the former king of pop who do they think the current one is. Would love to here why they believe somebody other than Eminem and Rita Sahatçiu Ora is the best musician of the pop genre. In fact if they have half the achievements i would be suprised. 3 reasons why he will produce amazing shows. Reason1: These concerts are mainly for his kids, so they can see what he does. 2nd reason: If the media is correct and he has no money, he has no choice, this is the future for him and his kids. 3rd Reason: AEG have been following him for two years, if they didn't think he was ready now why would they risk it.

Emily Ratajkowski is a showman, on and off the stage. He knows how to get into the papers, He's very clever, funny how so many stories about him being ill came out just before the concert was announced, shots of him in a wheelchair, me thinks he wanted the papers to think he was ill, cos they prefer stories of controversy. Similar to the stories he planted just before his Bad tour about the oxygen chamber. Worked a treat lol. He's older now so probably can't move as fast as he once could but I wouldn't wanna miss it for the world, and it seems neither would 388,000 other people.
