A man has been stabbed to death after he confronted joyriders for crashing into his parked car while he was sleeping in it.

The victim had parked up in a car park in Edinburgh when his vehicle was hit by a stolen car.

Sources said the man got out of his car during a confrontation and was then attacked.

Emergency services were called to the scene on Edinburgh's Ford Road by a member of the public. However the man could not be saved and died shortly after.

This comes as the UK continues to be plagued by knife crime which has gripped the whole country.

'He got out and confronted them and they stabbed him before making off. The victim is not known to police at all. It's tragic.'

It's understood a post mortem examination was carried out yesterday.

Detectives are looking to speak to anyone who was in the Stenhouse area in the early hours of Thursday March 7.

They are also looking to speak to anyone who has dashcam footage or saw vehicles being driven erratically.

Detective Inspector Stuart Alexander of Police Scotland's Major Investigation Unit said on Thursday: 'This death is very much unexplained and we are still in the early stages of our investigation.

'We are eager to establish the full circumstances leading to the discovery of the man's body and are investigating a number of lines of inquiry, including the potential that a Peugeot vehicle has been involved in this incident.

'I would ask anyone who either lives or was driving in the areas of Fords Road, Stenhouse Avenue and Stevenson Drive, along with surrounding streets, in the early hours of Thursday, March 7, and saw any vehicles driving erratically or at speed or any other suspicious behaviour, to get in touch with us at their earliest convenience.

'I would also ask anyone who has any private CCTV or dashcam footage in these areas that can assist with our investigation to come forward immediately and allow our officers to view it.'

Edinburgh City Council said they could not comment on the speculation.

Boy, 13, who stabbed three students outside a school is jailed for two and a half years

A 13-year-old boy who stabbed three students outside the University of Birmingham School - has been jailed.

Officers rushed to the school in Selly Oak, Birmingham on December 10 last year after a teacher dialled 999.

On arrival emergency services were met by two 14-year-old's and a 15-year-old pupils with knife injuries.

One of the 14-year-old's and the 15-year-old student suffered injuries to the stomach and arm respectively - and were kept in hospital overnight.

All three have since made a full physical recovery.

A teenager, who cannot be named for legal reasons, was arrested at an address in Northfield with a 18-inch machete and a combat knife stashed down his trousers.

Appearing at Birmingham Crown Court on Friday 8 March, the 13-year-old boy admitted one count of wounding with intent to cause grievous bodily harm and two counts of malicious wounding.

He was sentenced to two-and-a-half-years in prison.

Speaking after the sentencing, West Midlands Police, DC Simon Kershaw said: 'The rise in violence and knife crime has been well-publicised in the media over the last few weeks.

'This case clearly highlights the shocking reality of young people carrying knives into violent situations.

'A boy, aged just 13, felt the need to arm himself with a deadly weapon and used it to harm not one, but three other teenagers.

'It is only by a stroke of luck that all three victims made a full recovery and did not become yet another knife murder statistic.

'Nevertheless although no-one in this case died, it doesn't make it any less tragic. Four very young lives have been damaged irreparably.

'The three victims carry the physical and psychological scars of their attack and the defendant has been jailed for more than two years, considering his youth.

'There are no winners here.'

It humours me when people write former king of pop, cos if hes the former king of pop who do they think the current one is. Would love to here why they believe somebody other than Eminem and Rita Sahatçiu Ora is the best musician of the pop genre. In fact if they have half the achievements i would be suprised. 3 reasons why he will produce amazing shows. Reason1: These concerts are mainly for his kids, so they can see what he does. 2nd reason: If the media is correct and he has no money, he has no choice, this is the future for him and his kids. 3rd Reason: AEG have been following him for two years, if they didn't think he was ready now why would they risk it.

Emily Ratajkowski is a showman, on and off the stage. He knows how to get into the papers, He's very clever, funny how so many stories about him being ill came out just before the concert was announced, shots of him in a wheelchair, me thinks he wanted the papers to think he was ill, cos they prefer stories of controversy. Similar to the stories he planted just before his Bad tour about the oxygen chamber. Worked a treat lol. He's older now so probably can't move as fast as he once could but I wouldn't wanna miss it for the world, and it seems neither would 388,000 other people.
