The head chef at a hotel which hosted Kim Jong-un and Donald Trump's Vietnam summit has revealed the North Korean leader's lavish food preferences.

Paul Smart, executive chef at the Metropole Hotel in Hanoi, saw his kitchen invaded by an army of chefs from both the Korean and US delegations during the summit last month.

Smart, who has previously cooked for the Queen and was once employed at the Ritz in London, said Kim especially favours expensive cuisine like caviar, lobster and foie gras.

He also revealed the two leaders had very different preferences when ordering steak.

'President Trump wanted his steak well done, but Kim preferred his steak medium-rare to rare, very rare,' he told AFP.

'He really likes to dine and experience cuisine for what it is,' Smart said of Kim.

Mr Smart said the Koreans were meticulous in their preparation and even brought their own ingredients, like Wagyu beef, kimchi, ginseng and persimmon punch.

They also brought their own staff to work alongside the Australian and his team, who Smart described as 'mysterious but very professional'.

'I tried to keep the taste neutral and make delicious, simple foods that suited both tastes,' he added.

The summit failed on its second day before Mr Smart was able to showcase his full range of talents with a carefully prepared lunch of foie gras, snowfish and candied ginseng.

The talks ended abruptly as the president said he was forced to walk away after the North Korean dictator demanded that all sanctions be lifted in return for giving up only some of his nukes.

Trump said the final snag that caused the sudden breakdown was over sanctions – and Kim's push to have all of them lifted in exchange for a concession Trump and his secretary of state could not live with.

'Sometimes you have to walk away,' Trump told reporters at a press conference in Hanoi that was abruptly moved up after a breakdown in talks.

The president expressed his hope that the two leaders would meet again, but acknowledged: 'It might be soon, it might not be for a long time. I can’t tell you.'

Trump said that he remains on good terms with Kim and continued to tout the 'enormous potential' of North Korea, not notably said there were no plans for a next summit meeting.

Trump candidly revealed that Kim wanted the sanctions off, but was not willing to give up his array of nukes, missiles, and additional sites he only alluded to vaguely.

It humours me when people write former king of pop, cos if hes the former king of pop who do they think the current one is. Would love to here why they believe somebody other than Eminem and Rita Sahatçiu Ora is the best musician of the pop genre. In fact if they have half the achievements i would be suprised. 3 reasons why he will produce amazing shows. Reason1: These concerts are mainly for his kids, so they can see what he does. 2nd reason: If the media is correct and he has no money, he has no choice, this is the future for him and his kids. 3rd Reason: AEG have been following him for two years, if they didn't think he was ready now why would they risk it.

Emily Ratajkowski is a showman, on and off the stage. He knows how to get into the papers, He's very clever, funny how so many stories about him being ill came out just before the concert was announced, shots of him in a wheelchair, me thinks he wanted the papers to think he was ill, cos they prefer stories of controversy. Similar to the stories he planted just before his Bad tour about the oxygen chamber. Worked a treat lol. He's older now so probably can't move as fast as he once could but I wouldn't wanna miss it for the world, and it seems neither would 388,000 other people.
