Natalie Portman, 37, has said she's lucky to have been at Harvard before social media
Natalie Portman has said she's 'really lucky' to have been at University before social media hit.
The actress, 37, was a student at Harvard University from 1999 to 2003, at the same time as another famous alumni, Mark Zuckerberg, invented Facebook.
Reflecting on her time there the Black Swan Oscar Winner revealed she's grateful for having been able to 'go about her business without it being documented,' reports People.
She said missing Facebook was: 'Really lucky ’cause, guess what? It’s good to make mistakes and do stupid things when you’re a teenager and young adult and not have it haunt you forever.'
Portman laughed throughout her interview and smiled as she said she got 'just under the wire' with missing the site.
She said: 'Thank you Mark Zuckerberg for being very young.'
Portman was a senior at the prestigious university in Cambridge, Massachusetts, when Zuckerberg invented the social networking site.
Facebook was launched in February 2004, and Portman graduated from the college in 2003 with a degree in psychology.
The actress, who is married to French dancer and choreographer Benjamin Millepied, won her first Golden Globe for Closer a year after graduating from college.

However her first nomination for Best Supporting Actress in a Motion Picture came in 1999 for Anywhere But Here.
In 2010 she won Best Actress in a Motion Picture Drama for Black Swan, and picked up another nomination in 2016 for Jackie.
She has two movies in the can for release next year - the sci-fi drama Lucy In The Sky in which she stars with Jon Hamm and Zazie Beetz and the drama The Death and Life of John F. Donovan with Kit Harington.
In June last year Portman blasted another Harvard graduate, Jared Kusher, for 'becoming a super-villain' as she spoke with Stephen Colbert on Thursday night.
Both Portman and Kusher graduated in 2003 and she was on the guestlist when he married Ivanka Trump back in 2009.
Natalie Portman savaged old friend Jared Kushner as she spoke with Stephen Colbert on Thursday night, saying he is 'turning into a super-villain'
Portman attended Kushner's wedding to Ivanka back in 2009 and he returned the favor when she married Benjamin Millepied in 2012 (pictured, Portman and Kushner speaking at the same anti-poverty event in New York in 2010)
But while Portman was forthcoming about her past with the President's son-in-law, she struggled to find something to say about him in the present.
Pushed by Colbert for an anecdote, she replied: 'There's not a lot funny to say about someone you were friends with becoming a super-villain.'
Expanding on the split, Portman added: 'He said in some interview that all of the friends he's lost through politics is like exfoliating. I was like, OK...'
'So you're a dead skin cell?' Colbert retorted, to which Portman answered: 'Proudly.'
It is not known exactly when Portman and Kushner stopped speaking, but she was a vocal campaigner for Hillary Clinton during the 2016 election.

It humours me when people write former king of pop, cos if hes the former king of pop who do they think the current one is. Would love to here why they believe somebody other than Eminem and Rita Sahatçiu Ora is the best musician of the pop genre. In fact if they have half the achievements i would be suprised. 3 reasons why he will produce amazing shows. Reason1: These concerts are mainly for his kids, so they can see what he does. 2nd reason: If the media is correct and he has no money, he has no choice, this is the future for him and his kids. 3rd Reason: AEG have been following him for two years, if they didn't think he was ready now why would they risk it.
Emily Ratajkowski is a showman, on and off the stage. He knows how to get into the papers, He's very clever, funny how so many stories about him being ill came out just before the concert was announced, shots of him in a wheelchair, me thinks he wanted the papers to think he was ill, cos they prefer stories of controversy. Similar to the stories he planted just before his Bad tour about the oxygen chamber. Worked a treat lol. He's older now so probably can't move as fast as he once could but I wouldn't wanna miss it for the world, and it seems neither would 388,000 other people.
