«Breaking News» Cocaine addict Artie Lange seen with busted bloodied nose in shocking new mugshot as he's jailed

Artie Lange has been jailed after he was seen in a gruesome new mugshot with congealed blood under his busted nose.

Lange was arrested for possession of a controlled substance after reporting to Superior Court in Newark and testing positive for cocaine for the second time in six weeks while on probation, his lawyer confirmed.

'He knows he's got a problem,' Frank Arleo told NJ.com Thursday about the comedian who was put on probation for four years in December 2018 stemming from heroin possession charges in June.

'He knows he shouldn't have tested dirty yesterday, but he did. He knew what was going to happen.'

The 51-year-old - who takes Soboxone to treat his dependence on opioids according to the legal rep - was seen in a police photograph with disheveled gray hair and a concerning facial expression.

He also tested positive for morphine on Wednesday and could remain in a New Jersey jail until his case is reevaluated February 3.

Although his lawyer said he expects Lange to be moved into inpatient drug treatment program once a bed is available, a spokesperson for Essex County Prosecutors Office said 'the transfer could not occur' because of the test result.

New Jersey man Lange was still being held in an Essex County jail Thursday despite his team making no mention of the detainment in their statement.

'Excuse any show advertisements.. starting today, Artie will be undergoing a long term treatment program,' a post on his Twitter page read Wednesday. 'He loves and respects his fans... updates coming soon.. and it's time - TeamLange.'

Some of his approximately 365,000 followers expressed how pleased they were that Lange was seeking help.

'Please lock him in a treatment facility and don't let him out for at least a year, thanks. 143,' one person replied.

Another added: 'Don't ever forget that you're a hero to many. Heroes go through all kinds of challenges. That's the deal. Your story will include how you weathered the storm inside while the one outside raged on. Quite an odyssey.'

In May 2017, Lange was also arrested for heroin possession (81 decks) and in December that year he was incarcerated for failing to show in court.

He then struck a deal to enter an outpatient program and do community service in the form of stand-up comedy at a senior center in Hoboken, New Jersey.

Howard Stern Show prank caller Captain Janks posted on Twitter: 'Good for you brother! You keep F**KING trying. You will prevail eventually. Just keep trying. DON'T give up!'

As Lange's account on the micro-blogging website told followers to ignore advertisements for forthcoming shows, the only shows promoted on his website Thursday were gigs earlier this month in Poughkeepsie and Yonkers, New York.

The comedian claimed that a run-in with a bookie last year is partially to blame for his collapsed nose.

Last month, the comedian shared an alarming photo of his cocaine-ravaged nose, prompting several celebrities to take to social media and plead for him to finally kick his drug habit.

But recently Lange said his nose's condition also resulted from his kidnapping about 11 months ago.

'I still gamble a lot. That was my worst vice for a long time was gambling because it led to everything else,' Lange said during an interview on the podcast, Are We Still Talking About This?

'I owed a bookie 62 grand, and a kid who worked for a bookie, we'll call him an African-American, he was collecting, and he thought I was a billionaire because he saw me on TV and he kidnapped me,' the comedian added.

He claimed the man came up behind him while he was walking to truck and smashed him in the nose.

Lange, later woke up in a van, said the punch 'destroyed my nose'.

'The septum from the abuse from the years of drugs and this hit broke it and I've had two operations and you know, it's just in bad shape … It's a scar from years of sh*t.'

Lange said he told the kid that he was making a 'dumb' decision by kidnapping him and eventually the 19-year-old left Lange in the van and fled.

Earlier this month several celebrities took to social media pleading for Lange to give up his drug habit.

The former Howard Stern show co-host showcased his 'hideously deformed' nose in a tweet in late December, prompting an outcry from the comedian community.

Richard Lewis, Star of HBO's Curb Your Enthusiasm, was the first to urge Lange to seek help to finally end his 30-year struggle with substance abuse.

'This is my 1000th request over decades to beg you to surrender to your addictions' he tweeted. 'We had the most laughs sober. I love you. You're beloved and a magnificent comedian cursed with self loathing and fear. Give it up and live.'

The disfigurement to Lange's nose comes after he accidentally snorted broken glass along with opioid oxycontin - in addition to the nearly three decades of excessive cocaine use.

Actor Patton Oswalt concurred with Lewis' message, adding 'What Rich said. Come ON, Artie.'

A out-pour of similar sentiments then followed Oswalt's reiteration.

'Please, please listen to Richard,' said Brian Posehn of the Big Bang Theory. 'I really don't want to tweet about how f*cking funny you were and how said it is you're gone any time super soon.'

Mo Collins, who starred alongside Lange on MADtv, sent her love and support to Lange.

The 70-year-old stand-up comic reminded Lange of his own battle with addiction to prove there's more to life than drink and drugs.

'Coming up to 18 years in May. in early 2001 I'd have laughed at the idea of not drinking for 18 *days.*' He replied.

'Art, I know you know the laughs are just as hearty on this side. I love you and am of course 100% in your very crowded corner.'

Lange's public battle with addiction lead to a cancelled stand-up tour in 2010, followed by a gruesome suicide attempt after he was fired from the Howard Stern Show.

In his book, Crash and Burn, the comedian candidly recalled how he downed a bottle of bleach, stabbed himself in the stomach nine times and then slit his wrists.

He spent the next 18 months bouncing between psychiatric facilities and failed sobriety efforts.

Last month, Lange narrowly avoided jail after he tested positive for cocaine at probation hearing for possession of heroin.

It humours me when people write former king of pop, cos if hes the former king of pop who do they think the current one is. Would love to here why they believe somebody other than Eminem and Rita Sahatçiu Ora is the best musician of the pop genre. In fact if they have half the achievements i would be suprised. 3 reasons why he will produce amazing shows. Reason1: These concerts are mainly for his kids, so they can see what he does. 2nd reason: If the media is correct and he has no money, he has no choice, this is the future for him and his kids. 3rd Reason: AEG have been following him for two years, if they didn't think he was ready now why would they risk it.

Emily Ratajkowski is a showman, on and off the stage. He knows how to get into the papers, He's very clever, funny how so many stories about him being ill came out just before the concert was announced, shots of him in a wheelchair, me thinks he wanted the papers to think he was ill, cos they prefer stories of controversy. Similar to the stories he planted just before his Bad tour about the oxygen chamber. Worked a treat lol. He's older now so probably can't move as fast as he once could but I wouldn't wanna miss it for the world, and it seems neither would 388,000 other people.
