«Breaking News» Juan Guaido says Nicolas Maduro sent shock troops to his family's apartment

Venezuela's self-declared interim president Juan Guaido announced Thursday that agents from dictator Nicolas Maduro's feared special police force arrived to his home to threaten his family.

'At this moment the FAES is in my home, in my family home. I'll hold citizen Nicolas Maduro as responsible for the integrity of my daughter who is there,' Guaido tweeted Thursday afternoon.

Guaido, the 35-year-old leader of the National Assembly in Venezuela, was not at his high-rise Caracas apartment when the shock troops arrived early Thursday morning to question his wife Fabiana Rosales.

But his 20-month-old daughter Miranda and her grandmother were in the home and were reportedly intimidated by the officers on the scene.

Neighbors said the officers - who hailed from the Special Action Forces - arrived to the gate of Guaido's apartment building in a white SUV.

Angry neighbors and passerby immediately rushed to the apartment building banging pots and pans until the police officers left.

Guaido was named interim president of Venezuela last week winning the support of international leaders like Donald Trump and Canada's Prime Minister Justin Trudeau.

While Guaido may now control Venezuela's National Assembly, Maduro still controls the military.

On Thursday Guaido delivered a speech where he presented the opposition's plan to rescue Venezuela from its economic crisis and the grips of Maduro's six-year-long dictatorship.

'The dictatorship thinks it can intimidate us,' he said touching on Maduro's police showing up to his front door.

'I will hold you responsible for any threat to my baby,' he added.

He later held a defiant press conference in front of his apartment building with his wife at his side and his young daughter in his arms and said 'they will not intimidate this family'.

Uproarious crowds cheered for Guaido as he faced reporters just hours after the shock troops knocked on his door.

Florida Senator Marco Rubio tweeted updates on Thursday's aggressive attack on the interim president.

'Juan Guaido reports that at this very moment Maduro shock troops are inside his home apparently waiting for him. His daughter & her grandmother are in the house. The world is watching & the consequences will be severe if any harm comes to him or his family,' he said.

'20-month-old daughter was home with her grandmother when the Maduro shock troops arrived asking for her mother. These units have been trained, equipped & directed by security forces from Cuba,' Rubio tweeted Thursday.

The tension in Venezuela boiled over with protests on Thursday with anti-Maduro activists taking to the streets to challenge his authoritarian rule.

On Thursday the E.U. officially backed Guaido and recognized him as the de facto head of Venezuela's state.

EU lawmakers voted 439 in favor to 104 against, with 88 abstentions, at a special session in Brussels to recognize Venezuelan congress head Guaido as interim leader.

On Wednesday Trump spoke with Guaido to congratulate him on becoming interim president.

Trump tweeted that their conversation 'reinforced strong United States support for Venezuela's fight to regain its democracy'.

The U.S. has also warned of 'serious consequences' if Maduro's government harms him.

The political shake-up of Venezuela has beckoned international political contenders. Maduro has been backed by Russia, China and Turkey and says he will remain in power for his second six-year term despite accusations of fraud in his re-election last year, according to Reuters.

On the other side, Guaido has been backed by Western states who want an immediate transition of power and fresh elections.

All eyes are also on Venezuela for its oil, as its an OPEC member with the world's largest oil reserves.

Maduro first took power in 2013 but has sparked outrage and protest in the country after Venezuela's economy collapsed and was followed by hyperinflation and food shortages, leading to a massive exodus of 3million Venezuelans to flee the country.

So what's next for Venezuela?

Britain, France, Germany, Bolivia and Ecuador will work together to resolve Venezuela's crisis. If after 90 days no progress is made, the governments will consider setting stronger economic sanctions against Maduro.

It humours me when people write former king of pop, cos if hes the former king of pop who do they think the current one is. Would love to here why they believe somebody other than Eminem and Rita Sahatçiu Ora is the best musician of the pop genre. In fact if they have half the achievements i would be suprised. 3 reasons why he will produce amazing shows. Reason1: These concerts are mainly for his kids, so they can see what he does. 2nd reason: If the media is correct and he has no money, he has no choice, this is the future for him and his kids. 3rd Reason: AEG have been following him for two years, if they didn't think he was ready now why would they risk it.

Emily Ratajkowski is a showman, on and off the stage. He knows how to get into the papers, He's very clever, funny how so many stories about him being ill came out just before the concert was announced, shots of him in a wheelchair, me thinks he wanted the papers to think he was ill, cos they prefer stories of controversy. Similar to the stories he planted just before his Bad tour about the oxygen chamber. Worked a treat lol. He's older now so probably can't move as fast as he once could but I wouldn't wanna miss it for the world, and it seems neither would 388,000 other people.
