«Breaking News» Pregnant Meghan to skip Fraser Island appearances with Prince Harry

Pregnant Meghan Markle will miss out on the spectacular natural beauty of Fraser Island as her packed Australian tour schedule is drastically cut back so she can get more rest.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex will travel from Sydney to the Queensland wilderness island together on Monday as planned, but will leave Prince Harry to explore the sights by himself.

MailOnline on Sunday morning revealed Meghan's appearances would be scaled back by Kensington Palace planners as she skipped the 11.30am Invictus Games cycling race.

Harry was forced to present the medals to the winners by himself and told some Invictus competitors his wife was 'resting back at home, being pregnant takes its toll'.

It is further understood that the Duchess will not undertake many of Monday's engagements on Fraser Island due to the 'uneven terrain' that could cause her difficulty.

However, everything else would proceed as scheduled, with the Palace confirming 'the Duke will continue with the engagements on Fraser Island as planned'.

When the 16-day tour of Australia, New Zealand and Pacific Islands was planned, staff did not know that the Duchess was pregnant so had to reevaluate the programme to take account of her condition.

Meghan joined Harry at an official lunch reception thrown by Australian Prime Minister Scott Morrison at 12.15pm on Sunday after the road race at The Pavilion Restaurant in The Domain park.

Sources said it wasn't that the Duchess was feeling ill, but that they were trying to 'pace' her given how many engagements they have coming up.

'She is not sick, just tired,' one said.

Royal sources told MailOnline her absence was primarily due to a later than expected Saturday night after a huge storm with pouring rain delayed the Invictus Games opening ceremony.

The Duke of Sussex encouraged his pregnant wife to slow down after she felt tired when the ceremony, at which he made a speech, overran by nearly two hours, they said.

The source said they had expected to return to Admiralty House, where the couple is staying, by 9pm on Saturday, but they did not get back until about 10.45pm.

'We have to try to pace her. We have to make sure she is well paced and not overdoing it. She had a very late night last night,' they said.

'She wants to do everything, but Prince Harry is encouraging her to pace herself. We want to make sure she gets enough rest at the beginning of the day and at the end of the day.

'If it has been a very late night due to unforeseen circumstances, we have to adjust for that.'

The lie-in seemed to do Meghan a lot of good as she appeared lively and engaged when she joined Harry for the lunch reception and chatted to Invictus competitors and other guests at the crowded restaurant.

Also at the reception was leaders from support and mental health groups for veterans, and members of the Australian Air Force Cadets and Australian Kookaburra Kids Foundation.

Harry and Meghan have four events planned for Monday on Fraser Island and it is understood the Duchess will skip most of them, leaving her husband to carry on alone.

At noon they are to unveil the Queen's Commonwealth Canopy plaque in the ancient rainforest of Pile Valley, along with an Aboriginal Welcome to Country ceremony.

They will then visit the picturesque Lake McKenzie to meet with local elders and national park rangers to learn about the island's natural beauty, rich history, biodiversity and cultural significance.

About 2pm they are due to arrive at the historic McKenzie's Jetty, famous for the logging trade, before being taken by boat to Kingfisher Bay Jetty where they will meet the public as they did in Sydney and Melbourne.

Meghan appears likely to skip all but the last appearance, due to the difficult terrain of the rainforest and wilderness areas.

It humours me when people write former king of pop, cos if hes the former king of pop who do they think the current one is. Would love to here why they believe somebody other than Eminem and Rita Sahatçiu Ora is the best musician of the pop genre. In fact if they have half the achievements i would be suprised. 3 reasons why he will produce amazing shows. Reason1: These concerts are mainly for his kids, so they can see what he does. 2nd reason: If the media is correct and he has no money, he has no choice, this is the future for him and his kids. 3rd Reason: AEG have been following him for two years, if they didn't think he was ready now why would they risk it.

Emily Ratajkowski is a showman, on and off the stage. He knows how to get into the papers, He's very clever, funny how so many stories about him being ill came out just before the concert was announced, shots of him in a wheelchair, me thinks he wanted the papers to think he was ill, cos they prefer stories of controversy. Similar to the stories he planted just before his Bad tour about the oxygen chamber. Worked a treat lol. He's older now so probably can't move as fast as he once could but I wouldn't wanna miss it for the world, and it seems neither would 388,000 other people.
