Residents of one Chicago neighborhood are fearing for their lives following the murder of two men in just two days.
Police are now on the hunt for the masked gunman who appears to be behind the random attacks in Rogers Park, with ballistics revealing that both men were shot dead with a bullet from the same gun.
That revelation was shared by Rahm Emanuel during a news conference, with the city's mayor also stating: 'People will go about their daily lives, but we want it to be done in a safe way. A smart and vigilant way.'
Terror alert: A masked gunman (above on Sunday) murdered two people by firing bullets into their heads at point blank range in Chicago's Rogers Park neighborhood
Blocks away: These fatal attacks occured within 36 hours of one another on Sunday and Monday, leading to fears that there could be a serial killer on the loose
Douglas Watts (left) was shot dead on Sunday and thirty-six hours later, just after 10pm on Monday, 24-year-old Eliyahu Moscowitz (right) was also shot dead with a bullet to the head
Douglass Watts, a 73-year-old resident who lived in the neighborhood with his partner, was shot in the head while walking his dogs shortly after 10am on Sunday morning.
Thirty-six hours later, just after 10pm on Monday, 24-year-old Eliyahu Moscowitz was also shot dead with a bullet to the head.
None of the victim's belongings had been taken from them and the killer quickly fled the scene, actions that have some concerned that there may be a burgeoning serial killer walking the streets.
The Chicago police Department has flooded social media with an image of the man captured by a surveillance
'On Sunday, September 30, 2018 at approximately 10:07 a.m., the victim was walking his dog on the block of 1400 W. Sherwin Avenue when the offender approached him,' said police in a report released on Tuesday.
'The offender fatally shot the victim and fled westbound on Sherwin Avenue and then southbound in the west alley. The offender is described by witnesses as a black male, thin build, and wearing dark clothing.'
It is unclear how any eyewitness was able to describe the color of the shooter's skin, given that he was wearing gloves and a mask.
Moscowitz, who was a member of the Orthodox Jewish community, was found by a local pastor soon after he was gunned down on Monday night.
No images or footage of the suspect has been released from that incident at this time.
Police have now amped up their presence in the neighborhood.
It is not just the police on the case either, with the ATF and FBI both now involved too in the search for the person responsible for these fatal attacks.
Any person with information about either incident is urged to call the Area North Bureau of Detectives at (312) 744-8261.

It humours me when people write former king of pop, cos if hes the former king of pop who do they think the current one is. Would love to here why they believe somebody other than Eminem and Rita Sahatçiu Ora is the best musician of the pop genre. In fact if they have half the achievements i would be suprised. 3 reasons why he will produce amazing shows. Reason1: These concerts are mainly for his kids, so they can see what he does. 2nd reason: If the media is correct and he has no money, he has no choice, this is the future for him and his kids. 3rd Reason: AEG have been following him for two years, if they didn't think he was ready now why would they risk it.
Emily Ratajkowski is a showman, on and off the stage. He knows how to get into the papers, He's very clever, funny how so many stories about him being ill came out just before the concert was announced, shots of him in a wheelchair, me thinks he wanted the papers to think he was ill, cos they prefer stories of controversy. Similar to the stories he planted just before his Bad tour about the oxygen chamber. Worked a treat lol. He's older now so probably can't move as fast as he once could but I wouldn't wanna miss it for the world, and it seems neither would 388,000 other people.
