«Breaking News» Dermot O'Leary says he DOESN'T care about beating Ant McPartlin at the National Television Awards

Dermot O' Leary has admitted he cares more about seeing pal Ant McPartlin 'healthy again' than beating him at the National Television Awards.

Speaking to The Sun, The X Factor presenter said he's less interested in winning Best Entertainment Presenter over Ant and his sidekick Declan Donnelly, who have scooped the prize 17 years in a row.

It comes as fans prepare to see Dermot jet to various sunny locations for the first part of X Factor Judges Houses this weekend, with the remaining 24 hopefuls competing for a spot in the final 12.

He said: 'We all just want Ant to get better and come back.

'I'm in this game because I love my job. But I'd much rather see Ant come back and be healthy than win a National Television Award.

'I didn't make the shortlist last year so I'm not banking on it.'

Dermot's comments come as fans wonder whether Ant and Dec will receive a nomination for Best Presenter at the 2019 National Television Awards.

Ant chose to take a break from his presenting duties for the rest of 2018 after his drink-drive arrest in March, confirming Saturday Night Takeaway would also take a break until 2020.

He said in a statement: 'My recovery is going very well and for that to continue having spoken to Dec and ITV, I have made the decision to take the rest of the year off.

'I'd like to thank both Dec and ITV for their continued support and I look forward to getting back to work in the new year.'

Meanwhile fans will soon see Dermot jet to Los Angeles to host The X Factor judges houses, and he also told the publication he thinks one of Simon Cowell's Girls could be crowned the series winner.

Saturday's show will see the Six Chair Challenge come to a dramatic conclusion with the remaining Boys and the Groups, and Judges Houses will begin on Sunday.

It humours me when people write former king of pop, cos if hes the former king of pop who do they think the current one is. Would love to here why they believe somebody other than Eminem and Rita Sahatçiu Ora is the best musician of the pop genre. In fact if they have half the achievements i would be suprised. 3 reasons why he will produce amazing shows. Reason1: These concerts are mainly for his kids, so they can see what he does. 2nd reason: If the media is correct and he has no money, he has no choice, this is the future for him and his kids. 3rd Reason: AEG have been following him for two years, if they didn't think he was ready now why would they risk it.

Emily Ratajkowski is a showman, on and off the stage. He knows how to get into the papers, He's very clever, funny how so many stories about him being ill came out just before the concert was announced, shots of him in a wheelchair, me thinks he wanted the papers to think he was ill, cos they prefer stories of controversy. Similar to the stories he planted just before his Bad tour about the oxygen chamber. Worked a treat lol. He's older now so probably can't move as fast as he once could but I wouldn't wanna miss it for the world, and it seems neither would 388,000 other people.
