Christian Bale took to the podium to collect the Best Actor in a Comedy prize at the Critics' Choice Awards on Sunday.
And just one week on from his acceptance speech at the Golden Globes, the 44-year-old Vice star's British accent continued to baffle and amuse fans, most of whom were convinced he was American.
The actor, who hails from Wales but insists he's English, discussed moving to the States aged 17 in his long and rambling speech.

He's at it again: Christian Bale took to the podium to collect the Best Actor in a Comedy prize at the Critics' Choice Awards on Sunday - but it was his British accent that really made an impression on viewers
Christian was born in Haverfordwest, Pembrokeshire, before moving to Surrey and Dorset in England and then Portugal.
'I was born in Wales but I'm not Welsh - I'm English', he previously insisted.
One tweeted: 'Did Christian Bales accent change again??? #ChristianBale #CriticsChoice #actors #Hollywood'.
Another posted: 'I watched the golden globes and I’m still surprised by Christian bale’s accent #CriticsChoiceAwards', and a third joked, 'I’m never getting over the fact that Christian Bale has an accent'.

International beginnings: The actor, who originally hails from Wales, also discussed moving to the States aged 17 in his long and rambling speech

Funny faces: The acclaimed star amused viewers at home by putting on a very animated display when his name was announced
'I’m still very fascinated by Christian Bale’s accent #CriticsChoice2019', another viewer tweeted, summing things up accurately.
'I'm actually so proud, as somebody who came to America when I was 17, I am so proud to be part of a film that is a love story, in my mind, to America,' the actor told the star-studded audience.
'It's been so generous, America,' he continued. 'Introduced me to my gorgeous wife, raising my beautiful family, cannot thank America enough.'

Confused: Viewers took to Twitter to express their amazement at Christian's accent
Bale's speech struck a gentler tone than the one he took at the Golden Globes, when he compared Dick Cheney to 'Satan' while accepting Best Actor in a Musical or Comedy.
'Thank you to Satan for giving me inspiration for playing this role,' Bale said in an apparent snub to the former vice president last week.
The political satire shows an unrecognisable Bale as Cheney, depicting the former second-in-command as the ruthless mastermind behind George W Bush's presidency.

Christian was back on stage at the end of the night after being named Best Actor, and joked that he didn't 'have anything to say - I said it all in my last one'.
But that didn't stop Christian from giving a quick monologue about acting and what it meant to him.
'I always admire people who are willing to make a fool of themselves and that's what I think acting is really all about - embracing humiliation,' he said.
'And I've enjoyed it so much. It's so wonderful when you can only really do one thing in your life, it's great to be recognized for it.'

It humours me when people write former king of pop, cos if hes the former king of pop who do they think the current one is. Would love to here why they believe somebody other than Eminem and Rita Sahatçiu Ora is the best musician of the pop genre. In fact if they have half the achievements i would be suprised. 3 reasons why he will produce amazing shows. Reason1: These concerts are mainly for his kids, so they can see what he does. 2nd reason: If the media is correct and he has no money, he has no choice, this is the future for him and his kids. 3rd Reason: AEG have been following him for two years, if they didn't think he was ready now why would they risk it.
Emily Ratajkowski is a showman, on and off the stage. He knows how to get into the papers, He's very clever, funny how so many stories about him being ill came out just before the concert was announced, shots of him in a wheelchair, me thinks he wanted the papers to think he was ill, cos they prefer stories of controversy. Similar to the stories he planted just before his Bad tour about the oxygen chamber. Worked a treat lol. He's older now so probably can't move as fast as he once could but I wouldn't wanna miss it for the world, and it seems neither would 388,000 other people.
